in 2022, i used moore family law for my uncontested default divorce. it was very simple and straightforward, i had no assets or issues to argue over, however did get a permanent restraining order on my ex husband and father of my unborn child, but that makes no difference in the divorce filing process. yet somehow the firm made several, in their words, "common mistakes" when filing the final judgement and when serving my ex husband, meaning we went through the entire process only to have to completely restart. the final judgement packet was sent back with multiple mistakes, some of which was paperwork they outright didn't submit. they offered $300 off, but wouldn't continue working or fixing what they did without putting in another $2,000 after already having been paid approximately $6,000. all of this as a single, 19yr old new mom. if this was something where i had fallen short and not turned in paperwork properly, or it was some minor issue and we just had to resubmit the document, that would be one thing. these "common mistakes" are something i might have done if i filed myself, but as divorce lawyers you would expect them to have a little more attention to detail as they are experts in this field. i couldn't afford to pay them for redoing my divorce *start to finish* a second time. they had almost no remorse and would not take accountability for their mistakes. i felt completely dismissed and like i wasn't a priority, whether it was because of my age or that my case was rather boring from its simplicity, it did not get the basic attention it deserved. i ended up having to do the entire process on my own. i am extremely disappointed with the service and lack of honesty or accountability from moore family law. others may have had good experiences, but i would never recommend hiring them for such a difficult and vulnerable time in someone's life. i felt taken advantage of because of my age and situation, as if i wouldn't see or understand. "common mistakes" like forgetting to submit the DVRO or UCJEA documents should never be made by people who do this exact thing for a career.
