Karen was my attorney for over a year and she is one of 'THE BETTER ONES" she fought for me while being compassionate and understanding to my situation. She gave me a price that I could afford. If it wasn't for her I may not be with my son today. She went out of her way, extremely above and beyond for me and my family. Unlike other attorneys she followed through with all my requests and always made herself available to me, I recommend her to those in need especially with a DCFS case, she knows the ropes and is not afraid to stand up for you. I appreciate how much she has done for me and wish I could do more to thank her. There truly is not any attorneys out there as kind, honest , reliable and knowledgeable is Karen Green-Rose.

I did a lot of research to find Karen and took a very long time to get the money to retain her because I'm not rich. Throughout this period I continued to contact Mrs. Rose for reassurance that she would still take my case. I hired Karen only to have her back out on me at the very last minute, 8 hours before court. This was after communication with Karen drastically failed. She become incredibly unprofessional and started using her negotiation skills to put me down as I was attempting to understand the legal process. She refused to hear anything I was saying and put her own spin (like gaslighting) on what I would ask or try to communicate. (If I ask "Can we do XYZ?" then the response shouldn't be attack on me personally or my past.) Phone call follow-ups were inconsistent and communication was difficult. She made promises she couldn't keep and ultimately sold me an idea about my case only to completely change that idea later (using double speak to sell me her idea and then doing something completely different after hiring). If you are a busy professional any attempts to stay organized will be met with hostility with this attorney. Please find representation elsewhere.

I called EVERYONE and I mean everyone, the ACLU, even, to find representation for my legal dilemma. I was in the dark and was up against a wealthy, private institution, regarding their discrimination of me as a disabled person en route to finish my Master's program. Mrs. Karen Rose, who promptly e-mailed me the very same day that I received a referral for her, was very helpful from the get-go; she got back to to me immediately, exceeding my expectations as a counsel for my plight. She always responded to my inquiries in a timely fashion and also calmed my worries about the nature of the case. I felt safe and most of protected. Without having to get into too many details about my personal case, I would have to say that Mrs. Karen Rose---lawyer, mother, wife----is an exemplary person who cares about her clients because she possesses empathy for the vulnerable. How she believed in the rightful continuation of my education assisted me in re-coordinating my perception of who I was up against. She knew I wanted to finish my degree) and advised me on all the steps that were required to issue an internal complaint against the university as well as contact the US Department of Education for a formal investigation of school. She met with me in person; she even offered me her legal services pro bono because I am 135% above the poverty line and she perceived that my plight was unique: that I needed legal help, one way or another, while everyone else had already turned away from me (mostly likely because they couldn't get a dime out of it). Ms. Rose's professionalism, her kindness, her pragmatism and her knowledge of the law helped me---as a client---sway an entire room of university bureaucrats from an ill-favored disadvantage to a favorable outcome, wherein I was given the opportunity to finish the education that I so desperately wanted to receive, particularly as it pertains to the completion of my degree. She help me understand the law better; I know now what my rights are under the ADA; I also know what to do should anything similar happen, God forbid, in the future in regards to my circumstances. I think the real strength that Ms. Karen Rose has is that she treats you with dignity, almost as if you were an extended part of her family and she guides you and defends so that your the outcome of your case is in your favor. Hence, rather than being perceived as an obstacle to the university's bureaucracy, I became a success, not a burden to the school, all because of Ms. Karen Rose's help. She was understanding; and for this I am grateful. I highly recommend her to anyone who has legal needs within her areas of expertise.. From an objective standpoint, looking in, as if from outside, it clear that Ms. Rose does all she can for her clients. She is not a fraud. I learned that part of the process is what I bring to the table as a client, too. Therefore, let it be known that if you are willing to fight for case with Karen, you are in good hands, should you choose to accept the process. Law is not a joke. Entire lives and fates are on the line; and in my case, Ms. Rose did everything in her power to ensure I was well-taken care of and was protected. With utmost clarity, I give this attorney 5 stars across the board. ;) Thank you and best of luck in your endeavors seeking an attorney.

I met with Craig earlier in the year and he was absolutely amazing. He was readily available and took the time to meet with me often to ensure was briefed and educated on all of the options surrounding my case. He was vey understanding of my situation and was patient, as well as proactive. I didn't have to constantly follow up with him on matters. Additionally, I didn't feel like just billable hours, but rather felt there was a good rapport.

Due to increased travel restrictions for COVID-19, my wife and I had to cancel our wedding at a resort in Mexico. We believed, per the contract, that we qualified for a refund; the resort did not agree and was giving us the run around. Insert Alex, who analyzed the contract and clearly articulated our case in Spanish directly to the executive leadership team at the resort. Within a few days we had confirmation that we would be receiving a refund!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of El Segundo, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
