Summary evaluation of legal expertise: J. Gabriel, simply stated, is extremely knowledgeable regarding the law. He is also shrewd in his application of the law. An additional important perspective is his understanding of the intricacies of courtroom presentation to a judge versus the tactful, diplomatic maneuvering required for presentation to a jury ensuring the most positive outcome. We have trusted him to handle numerous, diverse affairs relating to our Bel Air property surrounded a complex mix of adversarial, irresponsible neighbors. In each case, he established his agenda requiring us to be flexible in our perspective. In several cases (two in court), he always prevailed in our favor. Cantankerous neighbors were succumbed to his skillful application of the law. All of our case results were successful. Be prepared: he utilizes his superior education placing knowledge, tenacity and perseverance on the line to win your case.

Jonathon Gabriel Is not what he professed to be! He promised me everything and delivered on nothing! All I heard were excuses from him and his assistant David! For instance "Jonathan can't take your calls because he's got dental problems and I was at the dentist last week!! "David who along with Jonathon have a condescending attitude, they both talk over you and quite frankly don't want to hear what you have to say when questioned!! They failed to get the information needed for the Bond and I had to get the information and Supply them with it at which point they still failed to act on it for another 4 months Never Keeping Me apprised of what was going on or how much money they were spending. After 9 months and exhausting the money that I had given them they have the audacity to ask for more money! Guess what my response was your fired!! I hired a new attorney who did more in one month than he, Jonathon did in nine and a half months my recommendation is don't hire him he's a blow heart!! Im filing a complaint with the board!

Mr. Gabriel doesn't understand the intricacies of law and fails to make up for his shortcomings by using condescending tones and downright rude comments to the court. He is great at billing his clients for using his time, so he gets 2-stars.

Jonathan Gabriel is one of the best lawyers I have ever seen. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, honest, friendly and full of integrity and can relate to most people regardless of their background. He is down to earth but is extremely aware of the law as it relates to the particular issues!!! I am extremely thankful that he represented me, and Jonathan is the only lawyer I will use or recommend to everyone. Also, I'm not going to sign any paper or contact without discussing with him!!!

Olga is impressive in so many ways, she always had answers for my questions, she knows the best way to negotiate a settlement and is a straight shooter. She could've easily put me on the back burner as my case dragged on, but chose not to. Olga has such a great way about her, she's a truth teller with a great human touch.

I ran accross Mr. Hymans number while doing a Google search and let me tell you, I've never been happier. Andrew (as he introduced himself) was very patient and provided a great deal of advice to me including a few references to help me along the way. Many Attorneys I've spoken with rush me and make me feel less than; Not Andrew. He heard my silent screams and validated them. Andrew is proof that one bad apple does not spoil the entire bunch. By the time the call ended I was asking him for is Avvo info so that I could rate him. Thank you Andrew for your time and your help. If No one else appreciated you my husband Michael and I sure do! Continued Blessings to you sir!

We hired Rahulan to do our family estate plan. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient with us when explaining all of the things to consider. My spouse and I both have children from prior marriages as well as from our union which makes things a bit more complicated. Rahulan was exceptional in his advice, and subsequent service. I would recommend him to anyone!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Encino, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
