Having no experience with the legal system and not sure what type of help we needed, we were very impressed with Pante-a from the first few mintues of our visit. She provided a consultation that fully explained the legal process and what we should expect during the entire process, and we hired her on the spot. When it came time to working with the DA, Pante-a was able to negotiate an excellent resolution to our situation. Overall she was a great listener, a knowledgeable counsel, always available for questions, and supportive. We highly recommend her to any and all of our friends and family.

Pantene-a was very attentive to everything that I needed. I had just received a DUI and was very scared as I've never been arrested before. She reassured me throughout the entire ordeal and her expertise in this matter had me feeling confident. She was available the entire time and answered my numerous questions. And in the end she was able to negotiate a fair outcome. What I liked the most was her personal attention. I never had to speak with an assistant or receptionist. Every time I needed to speak or meet with her, it was her, not anybody else. I would definitely come to her if I ever need legal help again.

Due to an inability to talk on the phone and shop at the same time... some might say I'm a little absentminded as well... I found myself in a lot of trouble when I mistakenly left a bookstore with a book in hand, that I did not pay for. I was arrested for shoplifting on the spot. I have never been in trouble in my life and was totally freaked out that this would ruin my career, future plans, etc ... I found Pante-a through her good reviews on Yelp and once again, Yelp did not steer me wrong. Pante-a was the BEST lawyer. First of all, she is very personable and will make you feel at ease. She answered all of my questions (and believe me, I had a million) and she was always easy to get a hold of whether by phone or e-mail. She also NEVER promised me anything... she gave me the facts, told me the choices I had and was up front that there is never a gurantee when it comes to working out a deal. This might not be what some want to hear... but she is honest and that's important. Pante-a worked really hard for me and I was able to get my case dismissed! NO misdemeanor or anything on my record. I can not thank her enough and I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone needing a Criminal Defense attorney. (I also advice not talking on the phone while browsing, as you might end up in my dumb situation!)

I was recently involved in a horrific accident with an 18-wheeler. But thanks to the Tu Firm and Mr. Hoang Huy Tu, I received a seven-figure settlement! Mr. Tu was also very professional, helpful, nice, and I felt like he truly wanted to help me out. I would absolutely recommend this law firm to anyone who has been involved in an accident. Thanks The Tu Firm!

Another great experience working with Corey & his team! This is the 2nd "Unpaid Wages" case he helped settle for me this year. He's very professional in explaining the process & scope of work but more importantly he gets results FAST! Very grateful for Corey taking these cases head on! Anyone that needs to retain an attorney for Unpaid Wages or Wrongful Termination - Look No Further! Thanks again Corey & Happy Holidays!

I can't recommend this attorney enough! Unlike other firms that asked for 40% of my total settlement, he structured his fees based on my case's potential, only taking 45% of anything above a certain amount. Attorney Pingle is not greedy like other law firms, and he settled my case in just a months. He didn't over-complicate things or pressure me, just asked a few key questions and got right to work. So happy I found him during such a stressful time !!!

I searched long and far for an attorney to hear and take my case. Most firms I could not speak to an attorney for weeks. Matt Briggs picked up my call and spoke to me for over an hour advising me on my case. He fought hard and got me a settlement that I never thought I could achieve.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fountain Valley, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
