John was a great help with my son's case. Within less than a week he helped get the case resolved and for what I believe was a far price. Thanks again John!

John was able to negotiate getting my case completely dismissed. I did not have to appear in court nor make any plea on the case. John worked hard to achieve this outcome for me. Communication was very strong and I was kept in the loop with all back-and-forth that took place between John and the court. I would highly recommend John for an attorney.

This attorney has no passion on what he's doing to all his client. He did not response to my call, text or email. Everytime i call him and he always said; I'll call you back in a bit, but never did! and he doesn't keep you update on anything in court. He doesn't attempt to make any statement in court, but by keep postponing the case. This attorney has issue "money" like people always said; money talk and that's what he is.

I spoke with them on 2/28/22.I told them needed a criminal defense attorney for my fiancé John. They assured me that their attorneys where competent experienced & qualified to represent us. I spoke to the attorney. He was informative & told me the steps he would take & I felt good about it. Attorney went to court, Johnny attended via video. Attorney suggested a time waive to be more prepared. Prelim was rescheduled for 3/29/22. Communication slowed, he did not respond in a timely manner, when he did respond, he would answer 1 maybe 2 times, then stop responding. It happened more & more as if he was avoiding me, Johnny wanted to know when he was going to meet the attorney. Johnny tried to call him several times, I explained to the attorney that he must have a spam blocker. He never did fix it. Every time I told him Johnny wanted to see him he told me he was trying & that was really hard because they only have so many slots for attorneys. He told me he would try for early next week. After a few days I emailed him, he didn't answer. Finally on 3/26/22 told him I felt ignored. He responded to me right away with unnecessary rudeness. After a bit of defending myself he responded with a time to visit with Johnny the next day.1 day before court. At the visit he told Johnny he was rude to me and not answering for personal reasons. Then told Johnny it was because his own brother was in jail. The jail failed to transport Johnny to court & Prelim was continued again. I called the attorney, he talked a bit then urgently said he would call me back & then never did .I've emailed him & the firm. I have not heard from the firm since. I called the case manager, she couldn't offer any background on him. She only offered a 3 way call. So after some digging I found no history of criminal defense for Attorney. he was a tax attorney at another firm till 2019. The score & experience the firm claims is not all around. It is solely for davidchesleys ratings score. I feel foolish & Violated.

This man is the truth! I’d recommend no one else. Professional. Driven. Connected. I’ve had prior attorneys in my life, nobody holds a candle to Yan Shraberman. He is the best I’ve had, and the best I think there is to offer. I’m a father, and let’s put it like this… if my son were to need council I’d hire Yan. Again! Straight up the best!

Mr. Jones answered my consultation call about my DUI and gave me helpful information about next possible steps for my case. Even though I already hired an attorney who kind of messed up my case, David listened to me and helped me figure out what I can do to possibly fix it even though he didn't have to. I really appreciated that he did not pressure me to hire him, but was just trying to be helpful. If you hire him, I'm sure he'd put your best interests first and fight for you.

I hired David a while ago for my case in which he was able to bring my felony charge down to a misdemeanor. Now that I have finished my probation, I asked David for advice on what to do for closure and he was incredibly helpful. I didn’t know there were ways to put my situation behind me and with David’s help I am at ease with what happened and for my future. I recommend David for anyone who wants an attorney who will fight for you and continue being helpful even after your case has been closed.

I met with Mr. Jones about a DUI charge. He was very informative and helpful. He answered my call after business hours and told me what to expect in court the next day, he did this even though I was not his client at the time. Trust me... save yourself money and headache and hire Mr. Jones.

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fresno, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
