David was a blessing during (and after) my bankruptcy. I suffer from depression, stress, anxiety and the medicine wasn't helping. It's tough to go thru and David knew that and walked me thru EVERY step of the process at least 3 times. Even to the point of telling me where the clock was so I would find my way. He even pushed me in my wheelchair. And since the process is over, without a hitch, David still checks up on me. He gives me hope for humanity. He really is a great guy and a fantastic lawyer!

He is the most careful and custom oriented attorney I have ever seen. With his involvement, the settlement negotiation about my personal injury case went very smoothly and finally achieved to a payout which I am very satisfied with. He is the professional that I am going to if I have legal issues in the future.

I am writing this review to express my utmost gratitude and admiration for Attorney Richard Curran. His legal expertise, professionalism, and dedication to his clients are truly unparalleled. From the moment I first consulted with Richard, I was immediately put at ease by his calm demeanor and confident assurance. Despite the severity of my case, which had the potential to result in many years of incarceration, Richard never wavered in his commitment to fight for my rights and freedom. Richard's legal acumen is nothing short of extraordinary. He has an uncanny ability to navigate the complex labyrinth of the legal system with ease and precision. His strategic approach to my case was meticulously planned and executed, leaving no stone unturned. What sets Richard apart from other attorneys is his ability to turn the impossible into possible. He is not just an attorney, but a magician who can make legal troubles disappear with his profound knowledge and experience. His relentless pursuit of justice and his unwavering belief in my innocence were instrumental in achieving a favorable outcome in my case. Richard's communication throughout the process was exceptional. He kept me informed at every stage, explaining complex legal jargon in a way that was easy to understand. His empathetic approach made me feel valued and respected, and his tireless dedication gave me the confidence and reassurance I needed during a very stressful time. In the end, Richard did more than just represent me in court; he fought for my future, my freedom, and my reputation. His efforts resulted in a resolution that far exceeded my expectations. I was looking at many years for my case, but Richard worked wonders and turned a potentially life-altering situation into a manageable one. I cannot recommend Richard Curran highly enough. If you are in need of an attorney who will fight for you, who will treat you with respect and dignity, and who will do everything in his power to ensure the best possible outcome, look no further than Richard Curran. His exceptional legal services are worth every penny. Thank you, Richard, for your unwavering dedication and for giving me a second chance at life. You are truly a beacon of hope in the legal profession. Best Maurice H

Frederick Hayes recently helped me negotiate a settlement for a mechanics lien on a residence. He gave an excellent explanation of what purposes a lien can be filed for, when filed legally. He provided a letter outlining the legality of the lien with an offer to resolve the lien, which received a quick response from the claimant. While we are still waiting for the claimant to follow through on the settlement terms, I was very happy with Mr. Hayes efficiency and thoroughness in writing the letter, plus his verbal negotiation with the claimant to settle the lien. He is very clear, direct in informing the claimant about the illegality of their claim and what countermeasures can be taken, and I appreciated his timeliness in addressing our situation.

Mr. Hayes seems to be able to figure out the important elements of the situations and then adopt the best approach for resolution. He was very helpful in resolving some sticky situations I was in. These cases were all real-state oriented, but Mr. Hayes was instrumental in resolving them because of his ability to deal with the PEOPLE involved.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fullerton, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
