I recently needed to retain an attorney as my ex-husband had served me papers to discontinue my spousal support. He was firm in his decision and made it clear he was DONE. Barbara came highly recommended. We set an appointment to meet & discuss my case. From the initial consultation I felt at ease as she guided me thru the process and answered all of my questions. After our meeting I knew I had made the right choice and I couldn’t have been happier from the first meeting and what we discussed to the outcome. Barbara is sincere, caring and easy to talk with. She explained all options, was very accessible and always kept me posted. I feel she has great knowledge of the law, is compassionate and has great communication skills. In the end, we settled out of court. He had a small win by getting the support reduced, but we got the bigger win by getting them to agree to pay more than half of the support he had been paying me for years, he paid part of my attorney fees and the grand finale, at the end, Barbara was able to get them to agree to never take me back again to try and eliminate the support again. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Barbara for your Family Law Legal needs. I’m so happy with the outcome of my case and it’s peace of mind, knowing he can never go back to court and do this again. Barbara was the 3rd lawyer I hired, and by far the best. The first was a bulldog, who while good, also inflamed the situation and caused more extreme actions. The 2nd took me for $18K and literally did not lift a finger - couldn't even respond to my emails and told the opposing counsel that we would just accept their offer without consulting me. Guess 3rd time is a charm because Barbara hit all the right chords. She may seem unassuming, but her questions and insights were spot on. She knew when to call in experts and was not afraid to acknowledge issues that were beyond her purview. She sought to keep our case out of court was very clear about the choices, options, explain all tradeoffs, and always kept the children top of mind. She also was by far the most accessible and reliable. And at the end of the day, that turned out to be key. There are so many questions and concerns in divorce and if your lawyer is not there communicating, well it doesn't help calm the nerves at all. She offered the help of her assistant when giant discovery demands would come in yet I never believed she was burning my money the way other lawyers do. She is realistic, of course knows the law, and always just seeks a balance between the battles and the war. Btw, I would not say I "won" in the sense of I did not clean up, but nor do I think I lost, and she helped me recognize that while it was up to me, in the end there is also a benefit to simply having the divorce done and being able to move on with life. To be clear - I am very picky about professionals I deal with, and I do not leave a positive review just to be a "nice guy". If I don't mean it or believe it, I don't say it, and I honestly believe you won't go wrong with Barbara. Her heart is sincerely in the right place and that makes a difference. She is not just about making money off her clients.
