Pros
1
Excellent legal expertise and DUI case knowledge
“He is very knowledgable in all areas of DUI defense and is certified in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (the same training received by police officers).”
2
Personalized and dedicated client service
“Unlike other large law firms that assign DUI cases to younger, inexperienced attorneys, Edgar personally handled my case from start to finish.”
3
Successful case outcomes and client satisfaction
“He was able to reduce my DUI charge into a wet reckless with a really short amount of court ordered community service hours to do and only 12 hr program on DUI classes!”
4
Strong relationships with the court system
“Ed and his team made a very difficult and life changing event into something equal to a fix it ticket. His close relationships with everyone in the court system is invaluable and not something you would get from an out of town attorney.”

If I could give this man no stars I would. He didn’t do anything for my case. I blew a .08 and I got my license suspended for a year, had to do the classes for 3 months plus probation for 3 years. When I asked him if there was anything else i could do, he said no at least you didn’t get jail time.

I was being charged for a 2nd DUI in LA County (5 hours away from home) and I knew I needed help Asap! After speaking with multiple lawyers around, I found Edgar through here. His 100% focus on DUI charges and perfect reviews definitely caught my attention. He was able to reduce my DUI charge into a wet reckless with a really short amount of court ordered community service hours to do and only 12 hr program on DUI classes! Had it been a 2nd DUI conviction that would have been 9+ months of classes! About people in my DUI class all have 3 months of classes or more to do and I was the only one with 12 hours (the lowest there). Edgar is the man and I am glad I hired him. Plus he fought the DMV to allow me to keep my Driver's License and won that too. I would highly recommend him. Thanks Ed!

Period. I found Edgar as a top search result and read the reviews. My decision to hire him was the right one. My case was dismissed. Edgar always kept me in the loop, proposed a plan of action, and took the lead to defend me against unfounded DUI allegations. I wish I could give him more than 5 stars.

I have a prior DUI and I had a different attorney represent me. I was not kept "in the loop" about anything, I was told to just sign here, and there went my thousands of dollars. This time I feel like I really lucked out by using Edgar. He analyzed my case several times, made all of the appearances for me, and I feel he honestly fought for me to get the best outcome possible. The main lesson to learn here is if you are arrested for a DUI, Edgar because he is the best DUI attorney. He can help you in your embarrassing time of need. Thank you Edgar for helping me and getting me the best outcome available to me!

During my stressful time dealing with the thought of having another DUI on my record after getting into an accident and arrested for looking drunk, Mr. Reynoso assured me he would use all evidence gathered to reduce my charges. He was very detailed in his method of attack for my case and he answered all my questions and called me often to let me know how my case was evolving. After everything was done, my DUI got dropped and I can't tell you in words how thrilled and relieved I am with Mr. Reynoso's dedication and hard work. Thank you!!

Mr. Miller handled a business litigation case for my family. There was a lot on the line financially for us. Adam was professional in every way. He helped calm our fears about the lawsuit and would answer and return our phone calls immediately. He had a solid strategy and was victorious in the end. We had already come to terms with a certain amount of money we would be out, but in the end, we weren't out any money and Adam's fees were very reasonable.

We needed a real estate attorney to help us work ourselves through a fairly complicated real estate deal that involved a properties purchase, modifying the existing property lines to new locations, placing deed restrictions on the remaining land to be sold and finally, a sale of the residual property to our new neighbors. Alex was pretty much a best case scenario. He was enthusiastic, forward thinking and finally, very reasonable with his billings. We are completely satisfied with our dealings with him, and recommend him without hesitation.

I suffered a dog bite that could have ended much worse than it did and left me with a scar. I had no insurance at the time and ended up with costly ER bills. I contacted John as I had no idea how to handle this complicated situation on my own. From day one, John was empathetic and reassuring that he'd do his best to help find a proper resolution. From my experience, I can tell he genuinely cares about the well-being of his clients. He was always ready to answer calls and kept me up to date during very complicated times. We recently wrapped up the situation and he was able to reach a resolution that we were both comfortable with. I really can't recommend John enough. If you ever find yourself in such an unfavorable situation as I did, reach out to John.

My wife suffered a traumatic incident in which a neighbor's pit bull dog killed our dog while she was on a walk and pushing our 1 year old in a stroller. We later came to learn that the pit bull dog had attacked another family that same day causing serious injuries. It was truly a horrific time for us not knowing if or how we could ever recover from this event. With John's help, we were able to pursue and ultimately reach a settlement with the homeowner's insurance company for our loss and suffering. John also helped me get the word out to the community, joining me at a neighborhood meeting that was organized to address concerns with dog attacks in the area. John is a true professional. He knows the law and he understands the process by which matters such as ours are resolved. This was tremendously valuable to us. John is honest, diligent, and forthcoming with his opinions yet maintains a steady and remarkable composure when dealing with a case. I am truly grateful that we found John to help us out.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Irvine, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
