I have an adult son that is diagnosed with bipolar 1 disorder. During a severe manic episode, he did not sleep for several days and got delusional. He decided to tag a college building with spray paint. Something he's never done before, nor does he have any criminal history. The police gave him a citation for misdemeanor vandalism. Attorney Christian Kim was able to negotiate with the DA to have the charges dropped under the agreement that restitution be paid for cleanup cost and to include a small donation to a charitable cause.
