Andy and his team has been with me since day 1. He helped me to win full custody of my child. He then helped me to obtain move away orders years later. Now I’ve come back a 3rd time and he’s won for me yet again! He has never let me down and has always been honest and straight forward. Andrew and his team are supportive and clear when explaining and they set honest expectations. I feel so confident every time I’ve had to enter the courtroom because I have Andrew and his team on my side. I would recommend Andrew and his team to my loved ones and anyone who wants to have the best on their team.

Andrew Klausner is an awesome attorney! After 13 months of my case dragging on, and my previous attorney was just billing me dry. I decided to hire Andrew Klausner to handle my case. He took the bull by the horns, cut through all the crap that was being thrown around by opposing attorney. He argued the law like a pro that he is. Shut the other side down and won the case. Highly recommend Klausner and Johnson.

I have been in Family Court more times in the last 11 years than I care to say. I went through three other attorneys the first 2 years, all of whom ended up being less than capable to handle all the issues involving the manipulative tactics of my ex. Unfortunately, like marriage, sometimes you don't recognize bad choices until you're well into the game. Those first two years ended up costing me hundreds of thousands of dollars and drove me into bankruptcy. The attorneys seemed more intent on increasing their billable hours than resolving my case in a cost effective and healthy manner. In 2010, I heard about Andrew Klausner and decided to give him a call. Hiring Andrew is one of the best decisions of my life. My only regret was that I did not do it sooner. Even though our divorce judgement was finalized in 2011, there have been ongoing issues with my ex who is unwilling to comply with court orders and is steadfast in creating chaos in our children's lives, and mine. After so much personal experience with attorneys and court over the last 11 years, I am well aware that even with the best attorney, things can be unpredictable and go awry. Andrew's confidence, extraordinary experience, sharp instincts, and caring sense of partnership with me consistently got me the best results possible without breaking my bank. Moreover, the stress of dealing with custody issues can be overwhelming, and his involvement in my case over these last 9 years gave me more peace of mind than I can ever express. We just completed yet another a 6-month, 2-hearing matter, and Andrew was successful once again. Actually, there were many issues in the matter, so there were multiple wins on all counts. Even bigger than winning in court, was the peace of mind I had due to Andrew and his highly professional, attentive and caring team at Klausner Johnson. I highly recommend attorney Andrew Klausner for any kind of divorce, or any legal issue for that matter. Andrew is not only highly experienced and knowledgeable--he's street smart and people smart. Andrew is extremely good at his craft, genuinely cares about his clients, is the epitome of integrity, makes himself accessible to his clients (how refreshing!!), and goes well beyond the call of duty to be responsive and effective. He charges more per hour than any of the attorneys I have used before, but don't let the sticker shock cause you concern... I spent far less money with Andrew and his firm in the last 9 years with many more hearings, documents, and issues while actually getting results than with any of the three prior attorneys in my first two years, not to mention the much needed peace of mind I got with Andrew representing me. He cares much more about his clients personal and financial well being than his own personal gain. Andrew is realistic, honest, and sees the big picture. He would tell me when it is not in my best interest to pursue an issue, and then try to help me find alternative solutions, even though it certainly would have lined his pockets--significantly--to litigate. And, when he does litigate-he is consistently successful with the best possible results in the most efficient and cost-effective way. Lastly, if you don't live near any of the Klausner Johnson offices, don't let that stop you. My court and residence is about 50 miles away from their offices, and it has never been an issue. In fact, on the rare occasion I chose to meet him in person at the office, it was always well worth the drive compared to the drive to the local attorneys I used in the beginning.

My mom who has dementia was being sued by two creditors. The second happened right as we closed the first case. Andrew Klausner is professional and gets results. He is also fair and great to work with! I could not have asked for or found a better attorney for both cases. I wholeheartedly recommend Andrew and thank him for all he did for my mom!

Mr. Miller handled a business litigation case for my family. There was a lot on the line financially for us. Adam was professional in every way. He helped calm our fears about the lawsuit and would answer and return our phone calls immediately. He had a solid strategy and was victorious in the end. We had already come to terms with a certain amount of money we would be out, but in the end, we weren't out any money and Adam's fees were very reasonable.

We needed a real estate attorney to help us work ourselves through a fairly complicated real estate deal that involved a properties purchase, modifying the existing property lines to new locations, placing deed restrictions on the remaining land to be sold and finally, a sale of the residual property to our new neighbors. Alex was pretty much a best case scenario. He was enthusiastic, forward thinking and finally, very reasonable with his billings. We are completely satisfied with our dealings with him, and recommend him without hesitation.

I suffered a dog bite that could have ended much worse than it did and left me with a scar. I had no insurance at the time and ended up with costly ER bills. I contacted John as I had no idea how to handle this complicated situation on my own. From day one, John was empathetic and reassuring that he'd do his best to help find a proper resolution. From my experience, I can tell he genuinely cares about the well-being of his clients. He was always ready to answer calls and kept me up to date during very complicated times. We recently wrapped up the situation and he was able to reach a resolution that we were both comfortable with. I really can't recommend John enough. If you ever find yourself in such an unfavorable situation as I did, reach out to John.

My wife suffered a traumatic incident in which a neighbor's pit bull dog killed our dog while she was on a walk and pushing our 1 year old in a stroller. We later came to learn that the pit bull dog had attacked another family that same day causing serious injuries. It was truly a horrific time for us not knowing if or how we could ever recover from this event. With John's help, we were able to pursue and ultimately reach a settlement with the homeowner's insurance company for our loss and suffering. John also helped me get the word out to the community, joining me at a neighborhood meeting that was organized to address concerns with dog attacks in the area. John is a true professional. He knows the law and he understands the process by which matters such as ours are resolved. This was tremendously valuable to us. John is honest, diligent, and forthcoming with his opinions yet maintains a steady and remarkable composure when dealing with a case. I am truly grateful that we found John to help us out.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Irvine, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
