I worked with Aycan on my both E1 and Greencard process. She knows every detail in every process, there’s nothing to say. I highly recommend Aycan if you’re moving to a new visa type, greencard or passport, I’m sure you’ll have a smooth process.

I have first come across to know her when i need to apply for E1 visa from reference of a good mutual friend. Addition to that, i had few visa rejections in the past which later i have learned that was due to inadmissibility issue which was determined by her. That was first strong signal which Ms. Aycan has built confidence in me that she is the one can get this job done straight. She is like a perfect surgeon whom diagnoses correctly so that in order to know how to cure. Later, through dense and complicated stages of E1 visa application which interrupted and delayed for almost 2 years due to pandemic, Ms. Aycan was determined, dedicated, fully cooperative and supporting through all these times until finally interview date given at early of this year in early February 2022. After long time waiting and hectic preparations, at interview unfortunately i was denied due to interviewing officer misinterpretation and misunderstanding of E1 visa qualifications. Ms. Aycan has done fast assessment of this denial. She disputed to it by sending emails twice to the consulate asking reconsideration of their decision. This hasn’t worked unfortunately. The consulate asked us to reapply. So did as advised. The second interview has been settled for four months later in early June of 2022. This time fortunately i was interviewed by a visa officer whom did right assessment of the case. And, finally i was approved for 5 years E1 visa status. The interview was long and sweaty one. However, i was prepared well like a student studied well to pass final exam. Behind all these efforts and success story, there was definite team work of my attorney Ms. Aycan, my employer whose put many hours of workload submitting sponsor company documents and joining zoom meetings, and myself whom prepared well and fought to the end. And Ms. Aycan was mastermind and architect of this success. She has set exceptional role model how an attorney can be and should be. She hasn’t only worked for this case, also she has fought until to the end as she said after first interview denial “I am there and will fight to win as long as you tell me stop”. Truly, she has delivered his words to most extent by heart and all meanings she has done. Ms Iskent has demonstrated exceptional knowledge in immigration law, superior communication , and a very close follow up. Again, thank to her being my attorney. She is not attorney alone, she is a fighter of law if it is righteous cause. She is an attorney ,whom you can reach directly when she is needed. If you have any case, do not hesitate to hire Ms. Iskent because she will be there for you at all times.

Ms Iskent has demonstrated exceptional knowledge in immigration law,  superior communication , and a very close follow up. She is an attorney ,whom you can reach directly when she is needed. However, what made me write this review is not only her extensive knowledge on E1/E2 immigration law, but her fight for the right thing. As our candidate for E1/E2 was turned down at his first interview after a lengthy two year wait (due to Covid pandemic) at the beginning of the year,  she told us that the officer made an  error and we should dispute it by any legal means. She told us that as long as we do not give up on this , she will not give up either! Finally, our E1/E2 applicant successfully got his visa at his second interview one month ago. This is why she is not only an exceptional communicator and knowledgeable attorney but she also is a fighter and warrior for the law. If you have any case, do not hesitate to hire Ms. Iskent because she will be there for you at all times.

Mr. Miller handled a business litigation case for my family. There was a lot on the line financially for us. Adam was professional in every way. He helped calm our fears about the lawsuit and would answer and return our phone calls immediately. He had a solid strategy and was victorious in the end. We had already come to terms with a certain amount of money we would be out, but in the end, we weren't out any money and Adam's fees were very reasonable.

We needed a real estate attorney to help us work ourselves through a fairly complicated real estate deal that involved a properties purchase, modifying the existing property lines to new locations, placing deed restrictions on the remaining land to be sold and finally, a sale of the residual property to our new neighbors. Alex was pretty much a best case scenario. He was enthusiastic, forward thinking and finally, very reasonable with his billings. We are completely satisfied with our dealings with him, and recommend him without hesitation.

I suffered a dog bite that could have ended much worse than it did and left me with a scar. I had no insurance at the time and ended up with costly ER bills. I contacted John as I had no idea how to handle this complicated situation on my own. From day one, John was empathetic and reassuring that he'd do his best to help find a proper resolution. From my experience, I can tell he genuinely cares about the well-being of his clients. He was always ready to answer calls and kept me up to date during very complicated times. We recently wrapped up the situation and he was able to reach a resolution that we were both comfortable with. I really can't recommend John enough. If you ever find yourself in such an unfavorable situation as I did, reach out to John.

My wife suffered a traumatic incident in which a neighbor's pit bull dog killed our dog while she was on a walk and pushing our 1 year old in a stroller. We later came to learn that the pit bull dog had attacked another family that same day causing serious injuries. It was truly a horrific time for us not knowing if or how we could ever recover from this event. With John's help, we were able to pursue and ultimately reach a settlement with the homeowner's insurance company for our loss and suffering. John also helped me get the word out to the community, joining me at a neighborhood meeting that was organized to address concerns with dog attacks in the area. John is a true professional. He knows the law and he understands the process by which matters such as ours are resolved. This was tremendously valuable to us. John is honest, diligent, and forthcoming with his opinions yet maintains a steady and remarkable composure when dealing with a case. I am truly grateful that we found John to help us out.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Irvine, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
