Ms. Rineer was the associate assigned to my husband’s personal injury matter at the beginning of the litigation, and was professional, diligent, thorough and communicative throughout. Her hard work was a factor in the eventual successful conclusion of my husband’s claim, and I will be forever grateful for her attention to detail, respect and courtesy when she had responsibility for the matter.

I found the office to be very Professional from the start. Organized and ready to get any and all information from the first meeting and communicated when needed to keep everything moving forward. I was guided to what I may be in for when going up against the City. Allegra was always reachable, not once did she fail to follow up on any issues. If I ever needed any assistance that is in firms field, I would be calling Allegra first and often without hesitation. I was very satisfied with the outcome of my case. Thank You Allegra and the team you work with.

My experience with Greer & Rineer Law was a life-changing one that will never be forgotten. In my situation I was dealing with a landlord who owed me back rent due to the fact that my apartment had been an illegal unit. The city made him close down the place and pay me to relocate but it also became apparent that I was owed back rent. When the landlord found out that I was going to pursue getting back some of my rent he began threatening me with all kinds of things that people with lots of money tend to do. He told me that he would sue me with lawyers that were way more expensive than what I could afford and used all kinds of supposed terminology and fake paperwork that he sent to me showing that I would actually owe him more money if I sought reimbursement. This was a very stressful time for me but, when I was referred to Allegra's Law Firm it was then that everything immediately started to de-escalate and I in turn began to de-stress. The best thing I can say about Allegra's Law Firm is that she and her partner never let anything go over my head. A lot of times if you're the layman and you don't understand legal terms and legal jargon it can be very confusing. I find things cmabout the law confusing when I'm just watching on television! Allegra and her partner Kathryn made it very easy for me to understand everything that was going on, they also helped me understand my rights, and they basically made it impossible for my landlord to scare me any longer since I truly knew and was aware of what I was to get back in return. They weren't only my attorneys, they were my advocates. They handle my case precisely and with tact and by the end of it all my life my former landlord decided to settle. I will forever be grateful to Greer and Rineer Law for what they did and how they stopped someone from creating stress in my everyday life.

When Allegra Rineer took our case, it seemed like a lost cause. We had been working pro-bono at the time, using some of our own members to assist our slandered priest fight an up hill battle. She worked tirelessly to help us find and achieve justice in a very difficult area. Many other attorneys would not venture to help a church that was in the middle of a legal battle for its property and church buildings. We even had judges that were confused by the corporate versus religious issues and did not want to even rule on the case due to their fear that they would be overruled in appeal (which some were). Not only did she help us achieve legal victory in the property rights case, we were able to be reunited with our church property. Now, we can complete our religious mission to be of service to God. Our case is very involved. We won the primary case, which is the key to final victory. We still have 4 more to go. I am so pleased that we engaged Kathryn and her firm to represent us. Our 3 and one half year saga is soon coming to an end. We look forward to total victory.

Allegra Rineer is an excellent example of a young, competent lawyer that I found easy to talk to. I met Allegra and her partner for the first time to discuss our case's background and what our case strategy would be. They met me at a location that was convienient for me, but at some distance for them. It demonstrated great courtesy and thoughtfulness. Allegra inspired great confidence in our ability to prevail in an extremely long, complicated case. She was undaunted. During our trial she gave me counsel on how to conduct myself in the witness stand and assured me throughout the process. The entire law profession is enriched by this young woman and her associate. Should I require legal advice or representation in the future I will contact her without hesitation. She has my highest endorsement.

Mr. Miller handled a business litigation case for my family. There was a lot on the line financially for us. Adam was professional in every way. He helped calm our fears about the lawsuit and would answer and return our phone calls immediately. He had a solid strategy and was victorious in the end. We had already come to terms with a certain amount of money we would be out, but in the end, we weren't out any money and Adam's fees were very reasonable.

We needed a real estate attorney to help us work ourselves through a fairly complicated real estate deal that involved a properties purchase, modifying the existing property lines to new locations, placing deed restrictions on the remaining land to be sold and finally, a sale of the residual property to our new neighbors. Alex was pretty much a best case scenario. He was enthusiastic, forward thinking and finally, very reasonable with his billings. We are completely satisfied with our dealings with him, and recommend him without hesitation.

I suffered a dog bite that could have ended much worse than it did and left me with a scar. I had no insurance at the time and ended up with costly ER bills. I contacted John as I had no idea how to handle this complicated situation on my own. From day one, John was empathetic and reassuring that he'd do his best to help find a proper resolution. From my experience, I can tell he genuinely cares about the well-being of his clients. He was always ready to answer calls and kept me up to date during very complicated times. We recently wrapped up the situation and he was able to reach a resolution that we were both comfortable with. I really can't recommend John enough. If you ever find yourself in such an unfavorable situation as I did, reach out to John.

My wife suffered a traumatic incident in which a neighbor's pit bull dog killed our dog while she was on a walk and pushing our 1 year old in a stroller. We later came to learn that the pit bull dog had attacked another family that same day causing serious injuries. It was truly a horrific time for us not knowing if or how we could ever recover from this event. With John's help, we were able to pursue and ultimately reach a settlement with the homeowner's insurance company for our loss and suffering. John also helped me get the word out to the community, joining me at a neighborhood meeting that was organized to address concerns with dog attacks in the area. John is a true professional. He knows the law and he understands the process by which matters such as ours are resolved. This was tremendously valuable to us. John is honest, diligent, and forthcoming with his opinions yet maintains a steady and remarkable composure when dealing with a case. I am truly grateful that we found John to help us out.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Irvine, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
