Where do I begin? This review should have happened a while ago. Finding Mr. Meyer: Attorney Aaron Meyer was had to find. There are so many people out there that claim to be professional and good at their profession. Aaron didn’t stand out to me, simply because I knew nothing of how to gauge the ability of an attorney. However, with every round of choosing he remained at the top. Initial Interaction: I explained my case and he knew exactly what to do. He wanted to attack it head on, before the case was referred. I didn’t listen and let the time slip away. Months later, the case was referred. I found myself back at his door… knocking. He answered my call and “shook his finger at me”. It was well deserved. He then pushed that right under the bridge and began his work. The case would serious, and he treated it as such. Aaron turned on the turbos. He knew that time was not on our side. Hiring Mr. Meyer: Mr. Meyer charged me an amount that was fair for the work that he did. Once we entered the 32 hearing, Mr. Meyer took the stage. He changed the authority of everyone. He made sure that they didn’t treat my freedom as a second thought. He also made them look at their methods of investigations, chain of custody, and how they viewed cases (not just mine). By the end of the 10 hour Article 32 Hearing, I felt very good about it. I did not anticipate them dismissing the case and a 17 page report, in my favor, written by the “judge”. Conclusion: This man is an absolute monster in the courtroom. He put me in mind of Tom Cruise in A Few Good Men. I strongly recommend Attorney Aaron Meyer. Personally, thank you Aaron for your hard work, truths, and availability. Please keep doing what you are doing, teach others, and take vacations (you deserve it).

Aaron Meyer is the first attorney I ever needed to utilize in my life and with exceptional professionalism as well as a very personable demeanor I was heavily impressed and forever thankful for all the work he has done. He not only helped me with my case but to this day I still tell my friends about the amazing work this man has done for me. He sets a bar that I don't think many could ever conceive reaching as a defense attorney.

I was referred to Aaron Meyer Law by a longtime friend who used to work defense council with Aaron. He told me “I’ve never seen anyone advocate or litigate more aggressively for their clients in the courtroom than Aaron does, if I was in your shoes he’s the guy I’d trust to defend me”. Unfortunately my friends representation of AML’s capabilities was an UNDERSTATEMENT. Aaron fought tirelessly, methodically and zealously for me before, during and AFTER my case was dismissed altogether. With my back against the wall, my career and future in immediate jeopardy, and what was seemingly an insurmountable amount of evidence against me - Aaron not only prevailed but DESTROYED the opposing counsel, uncovering videos and documents (in my favor) I didn’t even know existed - while subtly making a complete mockery of their case against me. In the months leading up to trial AND the months after the trial, no call, text, or email went unanswered in a prompt, timely and professional manner. An attorney/client dynamic I was unaccustomed to having dealt with family attorneys the past two years. It is my firm belief that there is not another attorney within the United States that could’ve done what Aaron did for me, my family and my career. This man owed me nothing, but litigated my case as if his own life was at stake. It is without hesitation that I’d hire him again or refer him to anyone I know if they unfortunately found themselves in the position I was in. His case results are real, and I’m forever indebted to this man and his firm for saving my life.

This Lawyer cares about people and not her pocket. I spoke with 5 other Attorney's who wanted to charge My wife and I three times the amount for our Trust. Attorney Natalie was very nice and accommodating to my wife schedule. We are very happy with her service and she will be our go-to attorney.

I own a small business with approx. 10 employees. I have had employment law issues which could have been very costly. I consulted with Kristine Karila about the issues my business was facing and she provided excellent advice and had a strategy for me to avoid any lawsuits. I have since consulted with Kristine on numerous occasions regarding my business’ employment law matters since California laws are very strict and constantly changing as well as difficult to know and understand. I highly recommend the Law Office of Kristine Karila. She is efficient, answers calls right away and knows California Employment law extremely well.

I am a 30-year business attorney in southern California. I have known Steve Zwick for 17 years. When I was injured in a car accident, I went to Steve for help. He and his team handled the procedural aspects of my case exceptionally well and he listened carefully to me about the pain I was suffering and the circumstances it caused in my life. He coordinated and directed me to the appropriate medical specialists to not only evaluate my condition, but to identify the specific source of my pain for purposes of long term resolution of it. He quite successfully advocated my right to compensation from all available angles. Steve is a caring person and a tenacious advocate. I trust his integrity, knowledge and experience to the point where I refer my clients who suffer personal injury to Steve for claim evaluation and prosecution.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Laguna Hills, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
