I had the pleasure of working with Ed Wallace as my estate planning and business attorney in Dana Point, and I couldn't be more delighted with the exceptional service he provided. From the moment I first contacted Ed's office to the finalization of my legal matters, he demonstrated an unmatched level of professionalism and expertise. I am incredibly grateful for the outstanding service I received from Ed Wallace, and I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone in need of an estate planning or business attorney in Orange County.

I highly recommend Attorney Edward Wallace. He handled my Father’s Trust and the disbursement of assets. He counseled me as the Trustee, so I would not have any disputes with a beneficiary that had been difficult in the past. He is very experienced, patient and has a wonderful personality, so a pleasure to deal with during a stressful time. My husband and I plan on using him again shortly to prepare our Trust.

Edward Wallace is an amazing, professional, extremely knowledgeable attorney. I was going through a very difficult time where I was in need of advice and did not know where to turn. I did not have the means to hire and retain an attorney to help me with my case, and after speaking with a friend about my situation, they reached out to Edward to see what he thought. Edward called me and asked me to provide details. During the first call with him, not only did he have great advice on how to deal with my situation, he was very kind, thoughtful, and reassuring, and was concerned with me personally. He helped me to get through what could have been a mess if I had tried to do it on my own and guided me step-by-step through the process. If you need someone that is a top-notch professional, and just a great person, hire Edward. You will be getting the best.

Mr. Wallace came highly recommended to us by one of my colleagues. He was very prompt in returning communications, and he also made the complex process of setting up a trust tremendously easier for our family. I was very impressed with the time he spent with us, and the detail in the complex legal document he created. We are very grateful to have him as our attorney and look forward to continuing to work with him.

I was in a car accident and needed medical attention and physical therapy after the accident. It was the other drivers fault. Bruce helped me to get all my bills paid for and compensation for my pain and suffering. He is an honest lawyer in a field that doesn't have many. He won't make you empty promises. If you get hurt in an accident, don't hesitate to use Bruce. And they have a beautiful office with really nice staff.

I met Harry through a business I have. In the process I met his family and worked with his wife. In the work I do I get to know people personally. From my experience in meeting Harry he cares deeply for his family and his passion extends into his work in the legal field. I was trying to resolve a case and asked for his advice. He not only provided advice but also encouragement to get on it right away which I did. In our interactions I found that while he specializes in certain fields he is constantly looking to learn more to get cases through the system faster. As we all know the legal system is complex, messy and long winded! He is passionate and energetic in his work and most importantly has a lot of integrity when it comes to helping people right the wrongs. I highly recommend his services!

Valerian helped my husband and I through a very difficult time, bankruptcy. This was our first time enduring this process so we did not know what to do or what to expect. Valerian held our hands through the whole process!! He would sit down with us and read through documents and make sure we understood them before we signed. We are also going through a loan mod and and have been waiting a year to hear the status of our loan. Valerian took action on them and got them to move a little faster than we could. We didn't hire him for that, he just took care of it for us. We completely trust valerian and will definitly hire him again for our future attorney needs.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Laguna Niguel, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
