“I recently had the pleasure of working with Candace Jones and her team, and I couldn’t be more impressed. As a process server, I’ve worked with many law firms, but Candace and her firm truly stand out. They are extremely professional, organized, and efficient in their communication. Candace was clear with her expectations and provided all the necessary details to ensure the job was done smoothly. It was a seamless experience from start to finish, and I look forward to working with them again in the future. Highly recommend Candace Jones for any legal needs!”

The world’s best attorney I appreciate every time and effort she has done with my case I’ve been working with her for the past three years. She is the best attorney I could even ever ask for what these bad reviews is not true. She works with time patients and everything even our fees, she’s the best attorney, anyone can ask for the state of California I would choose her over anyone with my case she has done a tremendous job. She gave me patience and made me understand my case no matter how hard it was it was new to her, but she was the best attorney she figured it out and made sure to happen. I would not ask for a better attorney. All these bad reviews is not true at all. None was soever. She follows the law. She knows the court system well and if she don’t, she will figure it out and take her time with you including her feet is wonderful. She takes her time and everything I say again she’s the world. Best attorney I could ever ask for I wouldn’t trade her for nothing she’s got sent. God made her for a reason and gave her her job for a reason/career , I couldn’t ask for Attorney couldn’t God said I love you. Thanks for being my attorney. Love sharice

Wow! I’m not sure where to begin! I had the pleasure of spending two years with Candace Jones as my attorney in a Family law matter. This Attorney is extremely professional, informative, a beast in the courtroom, and a great person overall. I’m thankful that God led me to find her on Google. Best of all she is local! Great for men or women in need of an attorney. I am someone that appreciates Google reviews, but I also understand everyone doesn’t value the same wonderful qualities that Candace Jones brings to the table as an attorney and in general as a person. So, when making your decision while looking for an attorney, consider that everyone is not honest in their online reviews when it comes to the negative ones. However, I can tell you from my actual experience that she takes the time to fully understand the details of your case. She will do what she needs to do, and be where she needs to be, and handle what she needs to handle, as far as what was contractually agreed-upon. She understands the sensitivity of each case and takes her time to understand the details of each person’s individual situation surrounding their case. She is on time, and very smart, and great at what she does. I highly recommend this attorney to anyone. Be truthful in the details of your case and tell her everything so that she can help you. Take a breath…. And choose her! God bless

Filed late response and never file contempt never filed for attorney fees and I prevailed the case with the lease amount of assistance from her office. Refused to call back or speak over the phone. Fellas save your money and DO IT YOURSELF! Represent yourself. Vs hiring this attorney. Charge me additionally to file order after hearing without notice of low retainer although it’s within contract I must be given notice of low retainer in order to proceed. Would never recommend to anyone. She responded quicker here then she ever had when she was hired. For $250 per hour I expected you to attend to my request for contempt and request for 50/50 custody. Meanwhile she would deny my request and state reservation to why not move forward. I asked her to help with makeup time and missed visitations but it was not her priority and neglect my request for contempt and enforce makeup time also attorney fees. In a family law matter I should not be punished for having children and endure sole responsibility of cost of attorney fees. FC sec 271 271. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this code, the court may base an award of attorney’s fees and costs on the extent to which the conduct of each party or attorney furthers or frustrates the policy of the law to promote settlement of litigation and, where possible, to reduce the cost of litigation by encouraging cooperation between the parties and attorneys. An award of attorney’s fees and costs pursuant to this section is in the nature of a sanction. In making an award pursuant to this section, the court shall take into consideration all evidence concerning the parties’ incomes, assets, and liabilities. The court shall not impose a sanction pursuant to this section that imposes an unreasonable financial burden on the party against whom the sanction is imposed. In order to obtain an award under this section, the party requesting an award of attorney’s fees and costs is not required to demonstrate any financial need for the award.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Lancaster, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
