Hamilton has been a blessing. Due to a brain injury processing paperwork and communicating can be difficult for me. My initial application was denied so we entered the appeal process. He walked me through everything and kept me on track. His commitment to helping was amazing. I highly recommend Bay Area Disability if you are struggling with the SSA.

Bay Area Disability handled my case and after a very thorough process which was detailed to my needs and the case, SS benefits came through and helped me get an approval for my case. It all went just as was explained to me and I'm extremely glad and happy Tate worked it all out and was very supportive through the process.

The thought of navigating my husband’s SSDI claim on our own seemed a bit overwhelming to us. Then a friend of ours referred us to Tate. He’s kind, patient, thorough, and definitely knows it all inside and out—all which gave us peace of mind while going through the process. And we received approval sooner than we thought. We would definitely recommend working with him.

After 3 long years of struggling, 4 denials and going through one attorney who hindered more than helped, Tate came in and turned everything around. I couldn't be more thankful for his incredible support and guidance throughout my disability case. From the very beginning, he has been absolutely amazing. Always just a phone call away, Tate took the time to listen to my concerns and answer all of my questions. His dedication and responsiveness truly made me feel cared for and supported. What sets Tate apart is his genuine compassion and attentiveness. He asks a lot of questions and takes the time to get to know you. He went above and beyond to ensure that I was well-informed and comfortable during the entire process. He didn't just send me copies of important documents in the mail; he took the time to explain them to me in a way that was easy to understand. The fact that he also communicated with me through text messages made everything so much more convenient and personable. I am forever grateful for Tate Hamilton's unwavering commitment to my case. He believed in me and fought tirelessly on my behalf. It was his hard work, dedication and knowledge of disability law that ultimately led to a successful outcome. I can't recommend Bay Area Disability enough to anyone in need of a disability attorney who genuinely cares about their clients and goes above and beyond to ensure their well-being. He won’t take your case unless he feels like he can win it!!!! Trust Tate!! I did, and WE WON!!! I wholeheartedly recommend Tate Hamilton. I’d give him 100 stars if I could!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Loritta Lucio-Coffelt Brisbane, Ca 7/9/2024

Incredibly helpful - he talked to me about my case, it was a bit complicated, and he gave me a lot of clarity. If I decide to file, there's no doubt I'll be going with Hamilton. There's a reason this guy has so many 5 star reviews.

Mr. McGill used his knowledge of the law to help me circumvent legal and ethical barriers to rewrite my elderly girlfriend’s Trust and estate documents. His network of associates helped me obfuscate my intentions so I have successfully taken control of assets that were intended for her members of her family. I used her funds to essentially put myself in control of her life and no one can do anything about it. If you seek revenge on those more successful than yourself, look no further than Edmond McGill. Revenge is not only on the menu, it is all that is served.

Please confirm your account to post your review 1/16/2020 If you are looking for a good attorney and want one you can trust look no further. We have a local business and Mathew Harris has helped us with a few cases we were involved in. Mathew communicates thoroughly throughout the process, is very knowledgeable and his pricing is more than fair. Needless to say he has prevailed in these cases and could not be happier with the results he produces. Do yourself a favor and call Mathew first, you will save yourself alot of time, money and headaches you might get with other firms. We could not be happier, we give him 6 stars out of five !

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Larkspur, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
