My name is Omar , On October, 2016 I got a DUI , I was very worried and scared because I’ve never had any prior history on my record. I had no idea where to start. The day after I got my DUI I called so many attorneys and Among them, Natalia Matusik was the only person I truly felt very comfortable with to handle my case. A few days later she took my case and I Can’t be more happy and thankful of the outcome and all her valuable help. She represented me in a courteous and professional way. She was very informative, cooperative and reachable via phone, text, e-mail and even person to person at all time. She met with me to study my case and to inform me of all my rights and responsibilities. Then she examined all possible outcomes and informed me of ways to fight my case in court. A few months later she managed to reached an agreement with the District attorney and the judge to downgrade my criminal charges to what might have been a DUI into a Dry Reckless charge. I would definitely recommend her to anyone dealing with this or any case, she took the stress out of dealing with this unfortunate event in my life and I look forward to getting her help once again in order to finish my probation early.

I had found myself at odds with my former employer. I had no idea where to begin and the Labor Department was not as informative as I hoped it would be. I was stressed, confused and restless. In no time after Natalia accepted my case all of my anxiety went away. Unlike other lawyers I consulted with, she is brilliantly informative and focused. She went over the smallest of details and was absolutely honest about what my expectations should be. Natalia is extremely supportive and professional: she always responds promptly and does not leave you hanging in the status quo. She genuinely made me feel as if I was her priority and that had a calming effect I needed in order to get through this process. Aside from courtesy and friendliness you can also count on her knowledge and efficiency. The settlement of my case exceeded my expectations. I could not have hoped for more. I am absolutely thankful and happy to have found such a dedicated person to help me when I needed it most. I highly recommended her to anyone who is looking for a trustworthy lawyer. I know for fact Natalia will fight for you and do everything in her power to help you.

Retaining Ms. Natalia Matusik Law is the best choice I ever made. A rarity in a city filled with super attorney's who bill for filing paper from one side of their desk to the other. I'm the single mom of a 9 year old daughter. My two previous “super attorney's” dragged me and my daughter through a 2.5-year divorce process, leading to another 2 year civil matter involving both my former husband and his affair partner, now his third wife. I hired Ms. Matusik in a family related restraining order case, which proceeded to trial. Ms. Matusik “got it” from day one due to her knowledge of the law, previous case history, eye for detail and methodical skill-set along with attention to my specific experiences. My case settled with a final court order and I was both relieved and satisfied with the outcome. The integrity with which my case was presented never faltered. Ms. Matusik provided exemplary legal guidance and compassion for the realities of the family law system every step of the way. Ms. Matusik's expertise and knowlegde of California law allowed me to function productivly during the day and sleep calmly at night. Ms. Matusik is punctual, returns texts, phone calls and emails. She's a prolific writer; describing facts and quoting laws like clergy. Her decorum is impecable, dressed to the nines, a spit fire in the court room, while gracefully deconstructing the other side's testimony as a skillful swords woman. Matusik and her firm are client centered and outcome driven. She listens intently and geniunely cares about your family as well as your case, keeping integrity and humaness center stage. I reccomend Matusik Law to anyone with honor and honesty. In the court room Matusik is prepared and astoundly brilliant she is the pinacle of polite professionalism when dealing with Judge's clerks, other attorney's and former spouses. The State of California's legal system is mired down with extraneous case loads, Judge's dockets are filled to the brim. Often, cases are repeatedly re-calendared. . Court is a place you do not want to spend your precious time or hard earned savings. Even among couples who have the ability to communicate, divorce is an extremely tricky business to navigate alone. You deserve the best legal representation possible, serving your needs, while working for a positive outcome for you and your child. Ms. Natalia Matusik Law is an angel, a saving grace, a fine wine. She wrapped her arms around me and my family protecting us. She will provide you with all of this and more.

I was in need of a personal injury attorney, and came across attorney Michael Wak’s page…I am beyond glad I did! To begin, his assistant Susan is very pleasant and friendly. Attorney Waks is very direct and personable, and I appreciate him calling and checking in on me during the process. I am well pleased with my offer, and the experience I have had with this office. I pray I never have another accident, but if I do, I will 10/10 return and recommend him to anyone! Thank you !!!

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Long Beach, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
