I was well, in my usual state of health until October 24, 2014, when my Saturn station wagon sustained a rear-end collision in stop-and-go traffic on Highway 880 in Oakland, California. At the moment of the collision, I was a restrained driver with a standard seat belt and harness, and no airbags inflated. I was scared and shaking after the collision. All I heard was a huge "boom" sound and both of us pulled to the side of the highway and exchanged driver’s licenses and insurance information. No first responders, police, or paramedics attended the accident; no police report was filed. After the incident I was driving home, however, a few hours later I felt my neck and back tense up. The next day, I felt the pain was very stiff already. The following Monday I went to my primary care physician, Dr. Chin who examined me and prescribed medications for muscle relaxation and pain control. I was told of the diagnosis of “Whiplash.” One week later, I returned for re-examination at which the muscle spasm had decreased, although the new symptoms I experienced was tingling in my hands and shoulder blades. I was then referred for plain film X-ray studies, however, my insurance adjuster refused these, I thought this was because I had a kidney stone in the past. That was the moment that I decided to obtain an attorney which is Michael, from the Beverly Law Firm. I was then referred to a chiropractor Zahid Atazai, DC in San Leandro, California. I was then placed on a regimen of heat, stretches, and electrical stimulation for three months, which provided some, but incomplete pain relief. I was next referred by Michael to spine and pain management specialist, David Chow, MD in Walnut Creek. This physician examined me and then ordered MRI scans of my neck and back. The result shows a disc bulge at my cervical C6/7 level and some other abnormality at the T1 level. I returned to this specialist for four to five additional visits where I had additional treatment. This treatment included a neck injection procedure, which provided very limited pain relief, and I refused a second. I continued with my chiropractic therapy as this has provided the only reasonable symptom relief. As soon as I benefited very well, I was discharged in a very good condition. Since the incident, I have had a loss of future income. I was unemployed for the four years prior to the accident, and three years subsequently. I had not applied for any jobs during this period, because I had little interest in gainful employment. It was one of the most difficult times of my life. I even developed nervousness, irritability, memory loss, anxiety, and depression due to what I was feeling. I was always overthinking especially at night since I had difficulty sleeping also. I felt like I was always fatigued. Overcoming this kind of situation was kind of heavy, but as the years went by I already surprised all the fears and obstacles. Big thanks to Michael for referring me to these impressive Doctors. Without them, I would never feel better and without your referral, I would never feel this great. I was impressed with how you handled my case. I know you work hard to get everything done, and I truly appreciate it. You have given me inspiration even if I feel down.
