I needed advice on how to set up a business and get a good legal framework in place and I found Jonathan on Yelp. The first lawyer I ever hired and he was patient and took the time to EDUCATE me on the legal things I need to think about.
Have referred others here, as well and love the subscription package the firm offers

Jonathan Tobin has advised me on a variety of legal matters related to my photography for years. It's always refreshing to hear his sound, well-researched legal advice on what I should do when people use my photographs without permission or licensing online.
What's great about Jonathan is that he is deeply in touch with all the very current digital trends happening RIGHT NOW. Judging from the advice he gives me and the conversations I have had with him, other artists and small business owners are constantly presenting him with very current legal issues. I mention this because I believe that if you present him with a legal matter relating to copyright, IP, etc., it is likely that he has dealt with a very similar matter very recently, not something he has to read up on.
I feel that with Mr. Tobin, I'm not presenting my arcane IP-related matters to some guy that is more comfortable dealing with medical malpractice or something. Jonathan has his fingers on the pulse of what's happening right now with IP on the internet. Plus he's a skilled graphic designer and multimedia artist that can write code. What a find.

Jon has been my go-to IP attorney for a number of years now, and has always delivered effective representation on every matter that we have brought to him. Mr Tobin has performed admirably, drafting agreements, negotiating contracts, delivering accurate and powerful legal advice and opinions, all the while serving us as if we were his only client (though we know we're not!).
Jon has an intuitive understanding of the creative process, extending into business affairs that many attorneys either cannot grasp, or do not care to engage with. Across the numerous dealings we've had with him, never once have I been disappointed or confused by his communications, as he takes the time to ensure that we are both well informed and well prepared. His legal knowledge has always been cutting edge, and I know personally the countless hours that he invests in keeping current on even the most obscure topics.
I can recommend Mr Tobin without reservation, as an honorable and knowledgeable attorney, and as a stand up guy.

I entrusted Jonathan Tobin from Counsel for Creators to handle a willful copyright infringement case. Mr. Tobin assured me I had an excellent case and was a credible plaintiff. A letter of agreement was signed and I payed thousands of dollars in fees.
For the next two years I jumped through every legal hoop thrown at me by Mr. Tobin. I compiled hundreds of pieces of evidence, filed innumerable DMCA's, wrote endless emails, composed summaries, list of actors, timelines, you name it. When we finally discussed a filing date, Mr. Tobin sprung a new challenge. I was instructed to obtain unopened copies of the infringed material from the Library of Congress. As always, I complied. I payed over $400 in fees and waited an additional four more months for the packet to arrive.
With everything ostensibly completed, I called Mr. Tobin repeatedly in anticipation of filing my case as promised. Weeks elapsed with no response. When I finally did get through, Mr. Tobin's tone and attitude had dramatically shifted. Mr. Tobin informed me he was no longer "litigating" and my case would be dropped. No credible explanation, no apology, no nothing. Years of victimization resulting from infringed copyrighted materials was bookended by years of victimization by an attorney who purposely lead me down a dead end. To add insult to injury, Mr. Tobin claimed he would try to find another attorney to litigate on my behalf. Like all his previous assurances, it never came to fruition.
Because the statues of limitations were now quickly running out, I was forced to immediately solicit another attorney. The urgency of this task was overwhelming. It also created innumerable anxiety, cost thousands of additional dollars and wasted hundreds of hours of time. Fortunately, I was able to secure ethical, competent and professional counsel who resolved my case in my favor.
Needless to say, I would never contemplate using Counsel for Creators for anything, let alone something as valuable as my intellectual properties. To this day, I feel maltreated and abused by Mr. Tobin. He sadistically toyed with me for over two years, was disingenuous in his legal promises and abandoned me knowing full well the statutes of limitations was running out. If I could give Counsel for Creators zero stars, I would.
