Jefferson was able to help me get justice and a fair settlement from the at fault driver's insurance after being unsuccessful on my own. He was extremely communicative throughout the entire process which has not always been the case when dealing with law firms in the past. I felt as though I had a friend who really cared that justice was served. I would recommend him to anyone in the SoCal area that finds themselves in the unfortunate circumstance of a car accident.

I called for a consultation, and Susan Margolis immediately took the time to speak with me. She was incredibly patient with my somewhat winding tale, and she asked questions that showed that she was obviously paying close attention. She also quoted me a price that I thought was fair and called me back the next back to follow up with me. Thank you for taking the time to consult with me, Susan!!

I booked Sonia in regards to a petition for an alien relative of a Permanent Resident. She's one of the most knowledgeable, professional, and compassionate lawyers I ever talked to. Being a prior USCIS officer, she has first hand knowledge of how petitions and forms move through the system and how to properly communicate with USCIS. Highly recommend hiring, Sonia.

When I first saw Sonia’s interview on YouTube, I got a very good energy from her. I called her office and made an appointment for consultation and I was eagerly waiting to talk to her. I had a one hour consultation with her and honestly that’s one of the best consultation I ever had with an immigration attorney. She gave me her full undivided attention and she answered all my questions in detail and gave me some additional helpful tips on my pending application with USCIS. I had consultation with many other lawyers which is completely useless and waste of money, most of the lawyers during the initial consultation do not answer any of your questions, they just try to convince you to hire them and they are the best lawyers for your case, but with Sonia it was different, despite the fact that I already have a lawyer who helped me to file my case and she knew that I am just reaching out to her for a consultation and possible way to help move my case, she did her best and provided me with best information. I wish I would have found her sooner before I hired my current lawyer. Also her office staff Nadia was very responsive and helpful. Definitely recommended.

Sonia was recommended to me by my Family Lawyer Joseph Land. I am single mother with 23 months old baby and victim of Domestic Violence. Connecting with Sonia is the best that could have happened at this stage of my life. I’ll say she was a savior. She was someone so professional, bold, smart, amazing personality, ground to earth who knows how to make her clients comfortable in stressful situation. I am residing here in United States since 2006. I came here on F1, NorthEastern University for my Post Graduation and in no time i was working on H1B since 2008 July. I have always had my own status until July 2021 when i switched my Job to the company where my Ex was working and company decided not to do my H1B transfer since my Ex had EAD approved and i became my ex dependent without knowing My ex had double life and was abusive to me and my new born to make an excuse to get out of the house to sleep with the mistress for years. I and my ex recently had Green Card interview and I am too scared and needed help where i could escape facing my ex and still go for Green Card Interview. Sonia who is so known for her work not only being the best Immigration attorney or the army officer. She has devoted her ample amount of time being the Immigration officer and I was amazed after so many years past in USCIS office everyone was coming to her with all the respect despite Sonia was working there long time ago and still everyone remembered her. I did not just had my interview so smooth but my whole experience overall with Sonia was like the VIP treatment without facing my Ex. I did have my Old Immigration attorney and the moment i heard about Sonia my instinct said she is the one and i was right about it. I do have my pending cases with my old attorney who just ripped me off with the retaining fees but i have no doubt to switch all over to Sonia. She is the best anyone can have who in need. I do know now why Sonia always says she loves this job because it matters to others.

I found Atty. Alix on google and just tried to inquire about my immigration status. She was very helpful as she tried to explain everything to me that is accordance to the law and her experience as an immigration attorney. It gave me a breather because I can totally depend on her guidance and expertise and not to merely depend on hearsays or what we read on the internet. I highly recommend this attorney as she is very prompt and respond quickly on emails. I wish her more luck and success!

From the first call with Anna, I felt supported and heard, which was important to me given the nature of my case. Anna was realistic and honest in providing her opinion, while still maintaining empathy and taking great care to make sure my asks were represented. She navigated my case meticulously, and I felt empowered to have someone of her calibre by my side. As a young person with no experience, Anna spent many phone calls working through questions I had and explaining the nuances of different elements I was confused about. She always had suggestions and explanations which I appreciated, and helped me understand the rhythm of the process. We were able to reach a speedy conclusion and I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful attorney despite the circumstances that led me to her!

I can't express enough how grateful I am for Anna. In addition to being exceptional at her job and incredibly professional, Anna handled my case with great empathy and patience. I'm sure a lot of the people she represents come into the situation with a lot of stress and anxiety - I sure did. She walked me through the process, laid out my options, and answered every single one of my questions with zero judgement. It's been an interesting "silver lining" to have such delightful interactions with Anna in the midst of all of this. Having Anna advocate for me brought so much peace into my life during a time of stress and I can't recommend her enough. Thank you again for your expertise and time!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Los Angeles, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
