I am very great full being connected with Anish, he is knowledgable, experience and professional attorney. My wife had received a 221g when she went for visa stamping, we are worried about the same. But Anish, helped us by asking the pin pointed questions and collecting answers to create a case for us. It’s only document submission for us as per 221g, but he had created a document bunch which helped my wife to get her visa stamped. He mentioned while in free consultation that, for my wife’s 221g response I don’t need to hire him and I can submit the required document by my own. But I insisted and it was a great decision made in this case. I will recommend Anish for immigration issues and would like to thank him for his efforts.

I highly recommend Anish as an immigration attorney. In the past I was represented by a couple of incompetent & unknowledgeable attorneys who wasted precious time which ultimately forced me to change my legal status several times. After my OPT application was denied due to an error made by the university, I was forced to leave the country and returned to the US after I found my job. I was looking for a knowledgeable and experienced immigration attorney that was solely specialized in immigration law and found Anish through the California Bar Association. During our consultation Anish explained clearly what my options are for applying for a Green Card, what the process is like, and what a realistic timeline would look like. He also answered all my questions and once I left the consultation, I felt confident that he is the right attorney. Once he took my case, he worked diligently on it and was always available to answer any questions that I had and gave me updates on any of the forms that were submitted and eventually approved. When the time came for the Green Card interview Anish prepared me well, especially for potential questions about the more problematic areas of my immigration history (changing visas, denied OPT, staying in US for several months without a visa before leaving, being denied a visa etc.). On the day of the interview, he came with me and my father to the interview and was able to guide me through the interview and help me when the officer wasn’t knowledgeable about certain immigration laws and was trying to make a case for a denial. He calmly explained to the officer the law and the officer decided to delay the decision on my Green Card. I became worried at first but Anish quickly tried to find a solution as we were leaving the building. In the meantime, I was considering my options in the case that my Green Card application gets denied. Fortunately, after several weeks of waiting Anish informed me that my Green Card application was approved. I am very thankful and grateful to Anish for everything that he did for me on this case. If you’re looking for an experienced, knowledgeable, competent, and professional immigration attorney, Anish is the one to choose and I highly recommend him!

Having got my I-485 denied due to my mistake I was looking for attorneys near Fremont and luckily came across Anish website. Scheduled a free consultation and felt so comfortable after the first interaction itself even though it was over the phone. Anish gave a thorough walkthrough of all the possible scenarios of why the I485 was denied and gave me very detailed guidance on the next steps. Based on the conversation we decided to go with Anish and filed a motion to reopen for which he was so patient with the document verification and my endless questions. Thanks to his help finally we were able to submit the motion and got our cases reopened. His constant advice and guidance throughout this stressful time was so commendable and I am glad we found Anish to help us out of this sticky situation. I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a thorough professional with amazing knowledge and insight on immigration matters and above all he always answered my questions/emails patiently. Thanks to his effort i still have my job and legal status in the USA and recently even got my Green card. Many thanks Sir

I found Atty. Alix on google and just tried to inquire about my immigration status. She was very helpful as she tried to explain everything to me that is accordance to the law and her experience as an immigration attorney. It gave me a breather because I can totally depend on her guidance and expertise and not to merely depend on hearsays or what we read on the internet. I highly recommend this attorney as she is very prompt and respond quickly on emails. I wish her more luck and success!

From the first call with Anna, I felt supported and heard, which was important to me given the nature of my case. Anna was realistic and honest in providing her opinion, while still maintaining empathy and taking great care to make sure my asks were represented. She navigated my case meticulously, and I felt empowered to have someone of her calibre by my side. As a young person with no experience, Anna spent many phone calls working through questions I had and explaining the nuances of different elements I was confused about. She always had suggestions and explanations which I appreciated, and helped me understand the rhythm of the process. We were able to reach a speedy conclusion and I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful attorney despite the circumstances that led me to her!

In addition to being exceptional at her job and incredibly professional, Anna handled my case with great empathy and patience. I'm sure a lot of the people she represents come into the situation with a lot of stress and anxiety - I sure did. She walked me through the process, laid out my options, and answered every single one of my questions with zero judgement. It's been an interesting "silver lining" to have such delightful interactions with Anna in the midst of all of this. Having Anna advocate for me brought so much peace into my life during a time of stress and I can't recommend her enough. Thank you again for your expertise and time!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Los Angeles, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
