Non responsive, usually has a conflict of interest in my experience, perhaps because they are over loaded with clients due to the contract they have with Madera County California, who knows maybe they do not believe that some people are worth fighting for I don't know. I wish justice was for every one, apparently it is limited to the highest bidder in Mad town. The thing that disturbed me most about Cummo and associates is I would often hear and employee of thiers in the court halls say, "Welcome to the State of Madera".. I look for a state of Madera but did not find one in the Federal Registry , I did find a city and a county both named Madera located in the state of California and inseparable part of the United States of America, where the constitution is the supreme law of the land, perhaps the employees should take a refresher course on the constitutional bill of rights. Just to remind them of the limitations that are placed on The police, The District Attorney's , and even the Judges. In my experience they have lacked the knowledge to effect a proper challenge to violations of the bill of rights, your experience may differ.

Doreen Houx has represented me once in court, and is the best lawyer I have ever had. She stood by my side, and spoke to the judge on my behalf. I was dumb and drove my friend around without a license, and she got me out of trouble with the court.

My husband and I were having problems with a tenant not paying rent. We decided we had enough and went in to see Mr. Geringer. Their office was not only knowable about evictions but gave us different approaches we would take to get the tenants out. When my husband and I finally decided which way to proceed Mr. Geringer was able to get the 3 Day Notice prepared and posted that same day. We ended up getting the tenants out and a money Judgment within 2 weeks. I would definitely recommend this attorney to anyone who is tired of getting the run around from tenants.

Mr. Geringer is not one of those attorneys that will do anything for a dollar. He will tell you the truth even though you may not like. He gives you all the facts and is honest about what needs to be done and how to go about doing it. I used him for a criminal case. I like how he worked that I went back for my family law case and had my new wife and everyone else I know go to him.

I was arrested in California while on vacation for False Allegations of DV. Being that I’m from Michigan I had no idea about how California works. They treat DV Accusations Harshly. Being that I have never been in this situation before especially in a different state first thing I did was look up lawyers. I found a few and then I ran across eric. One thing that I like about him is that he doesn’t promise anything but he does try everything in his power 100% to do what he can for you and he’s very knowledgeable. Eric was able to get the charges dropped before even having to go to a bond hearing or deal with arraignment. They say you get what you pay for and he even tells you during the consultation that he recommends getting consultations from a couple different lawyers for what fits your needs and price range. He got me the best overall outcome and that’s what I’m grateful for. ZERO Criminal record. The reviews speak for themselves!

I couldn't be more pleased with Mr. Pentell's services. He was immediately proactive and worked diligently for the right outcome. My charges were dismissed at the first hearing. Additionally, he was very personable, always took the time to explain the process and didn't rush through the details. I could go on and on so let me just say this; He exceeded my expectations in every way, shape and form. 5 stars just isn't enough.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Madera, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
