I’m writing this review about Mr. Roger Rombro Usually I don’t write reviews but I found this review very important because as a man who is going through a divorce with a lot of stresses I found Mr Romo cause more stress than a relief. He used to be a good lawyer, but I think with aging, he’s not doing good at all. All the good reviews are eight years old nothing recent. He overcharged Me intentionally, he forgot to submit important documents to the court which caused a lot of financial stresses to me. He used the super lawyer certificate everywhere in his office although this is a paid advertisement and does not reflect the current service that he provides. I fired him after he charged me thousands of dollars while he was in vacation.

In hindsight, conducting thorough research prior to engaging Roger Rombro's services would have been prudent. I highly recommend conducting an internet search to review lawsuits associated with his professional practice. My decision to retain Roger was influenced by his extensive years of experience, which unfortunately did not translate into satisfactory service. He consistently failed to meet deadlines, exhibited unprofessional behavior such as berating his staff and clients—including myself—and demonstrated a lack of respect by attending to unrelated matters during our meetings, all while billing for the time spent. Subsequently, I transitioned to a legal representative with comparatively less experience. However, this attorney demonstrated commendable dedication by promptly responding to communications, even outside of regular business hours, and diligently returning missed calls.

ROMBRO & MANLEY LLP When searching for a skilled lawyer, knowledge of the subject matter is key. You will not find anyone more educated and informed than Roger and Melinda. They own the client's problem and engender a belief that they will do everything possible to help their client succeed. Their office is staffed by Heather, Sonia, and Edwin who are friendly and extremely competent professionals dedicated to providing exceptional service. Roger and Melinda's team pay meticulous attention to detail toward every aspect of your case from beginning to end. This includes continual accessibility and updates via telephone or email. Though no one can predict with certainty what happens in the courtroom, they work diligently to ensure the best possible result. Roger is a true gentleman, yet a fierce litigator, who knows the law. Because of this, he projects confidence, not arrogance. He remains cool under fire and is an aggressive advocate. I have seen him litigate, debate and argue contempt, custody, joinder, fiduciary duties and support motions with a Judge, who then, in turn, refer to him for additional clarification on the case law. There is no one better to speak on your behalf in a courtroom. Melinda has a passion for keeping the peace and is a fierce advocate for children. She thinks outside the box for creative solutions to solving issues to protect the best interest of the children. She is an excellent resource for case law and issues regarding custody and child support. I highly recommend Rombro & Manley LLP to anyone entering the challenging predicament of a divorce. I can attest to the fact that they are an outstanding law firm that has built a legal legacy of honesty, integrity and hard work that is unrivaled. I cannot thank them enough for their outstanding legal representation.

I hired Mr. Rombro in 2010 and the reason I hired him was because of his ethics. He told me right up front that he is not the lawyer for me if dragging thru the mud and being dishonest is what I was looking for. He said that he goes by the book and presents the facts and that is what has made him successful. This was all that I wanted. I only wanted what was fair. I was even impressed that before anything was done with my case, I was asked if I was certain that there was nothing that could be done to save my marriage. Coming from a divorce attorney? Yes, and that impressed me. I was kept up to date on everything and given copies of all documents and was treated as though I was his only case, although I knew that was definitely not the case. My questions were answered thoroughly and in a timely manner, and believe me, I had many. Mine was a long case, two plus years, but in the end I was happy with the outcome and felt that it was fair. Each time we went to court, Mr. Rombro was always pleasant and acknowledged everyone and seemed to be very well respected by all who he encountered. I would highly recommend Mr. Rombro and Associates if you were in need unfortunately of a divorce attorney. They are a top notch, A+ attorney firm.

Rodney Alves is the consumate professional. He is my General Counsel handling Entertainment, Contracts, International, New Business Ventures, and Acquisitions Law. Unlike other Attorneys who are simply lawyers Rodney is also a businessman who understands the dynamics of how businesses are organized and operated. I have seen hm in action as a businessman taking off the legal hat and operating as a skilled manager and executive. He is also skilled on developing business plans as as such is a valuable part of the things I do. Inquiries are welcomed.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Manhattan Beach, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
