I cannot recommend Brittany Huynh highly enough! Over the course of four long years, she fought tirelessly for my workers’ compensation case, always going above and beyond to ensure I received the best outcome. Brittany was not only professional and knowledgeable but also genuinely compassionate, making me feel supported every step of the way. She is especially knowledgeable in cases involving first responders, and her expertise in this area gave me great confidence throughout the process. Brittany’s professionalism and assertiveness made her a formidable presence when dealing with the insurance company, always standing her ground in a way that was both respectful and highly effective. Her attention to detail, thorough understanding of the law, and relentless dedication were key in securing a positive result for me. If you’re looking for a lawyer who truly cares, knows the intricacies of workers’ compensation law, and will fight for your rights, look no further. Thank you, Brittany, for your exceptional work!

After this whole journey of injuries and complications, this honestly taught me so many things which include to appreciate the little things. All those little things are very much appreciated for me and in reality, they are huge to me. this includes the lawyer that was assigned to me and her name is Brittany Huynh, a formed West Coast Workers Comp Attorney. Brittany has been an incredible help through this and always making sure that with every decision i make, i am 100% sure on what is being made. She is honest, kind, and is not afraid to tell me the truth when i need to hear it. For someone who i haven’t even met in person, i would never thought i would trust so much. Her ability to understand all perspectives and yet still puts the focus on my goals from this case itself. She has been such an incredible help during this long process and guiding me all the way to the finish line. I appreciate all her support and she is honestly the best lawyer to have. I will be forever thankful to her.

30 years in a All-Risk FD, high call volume, crime ridden city, you take a beating. Through the years I had used several “quality” WC attorneys, never felt represented fully, just passed along, the minimums. One could imagine my concerns with multiple career ending, complex injuries/disabilities that required significant investment in time, intelligence, gaining my trust, assuring that in the end it will all work out. Brittany was referred to me, gained my trust with her candid, calming, straight ahead conversations. Always there whenever I needed reassurance, that alone was something I never had with any other attorney. With multiple complex injuries/disabilities presented, she never faltered, was one step ahead always, I felt comfortable, fully represented. When an emergency presented, she had me on a plane, being treated within days. She cares very much, it becomes obvious quickly. The relations she built with my adjuster, their attorneys, helped secure treatments faster for my numerous medical needs. She gets the respect from all sides, she is aggressive with a balance of fair, you never feel you have been short changed. As I write this, my cases completed above what I ever expected, I know how incredibly fortunate I am. I truly believe that any other attorney could not have handled my claims to the outcome she achieved. There is no better choice than Brittany, my wife and I fully believe this, she is the Standard in the highest quality and ability to represent and fight for you.

I hired Robert to assist with a trust and an estate. The situation had gone on for some time and the original attorney involved seemed to generate hours but little work. I called Robert, met with him and he was really understanding and supportive. The fact is I had screwed up a few things and made the situation worse. Robert was relaxed, friendly, we discussed options,he appeared in court on my behalf and put the trust and estate back into order. When I called him sometimes I left a message, he called back within a few days. He would also reply to emails Overall I was quite pleased. Robert seems to specialize in making you feel comfortable, he is calm and relaxed and did a great job clearing up my mess. His fee was reasonable.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Millbrae, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
