I paid him 15,000 dollars up front. Full paid attorney who blew me off on many occasions for appointment for case discussion. Kept putting my case out. Kept icnoring phone calls and texts. Actually never has a way to leave him voice messages. He neglects to check or erase previous ones. Never received my discovery from case or any paperwork. Which is my right to have. Put my case out so far. I don't believe I am capable of getting to the video and proof I needed on my behalf because he's neglected my FULLY PAID CASE. HES STILL HAS NOT RETURNED MY FEE OF 15,000 OVER A MONTH NOW SINCE I FIRED HIM. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL IN MY POINT OF VIEW. HE HAD A PAST CLIENT HE DODNT EVEN SHOW UP TO HIS TRAIL FOR REPRESENTATION. HES A WELL PUT TOGETHER MAN. BUT HIS PRIORITY DEFINITELY IS NOT HIS CLIENTS. ITS THE MONEY HE TAKES FROM YOU AND LEAVES YOU TO BE HUNG PUT TO DRY. WITH PUT MY 15,000 FEE HES REFUSING TO GIVE BACK I AM YET LEFT HUNG OUT TO DRY BY HIM AGAIN. I CANT AFFORD ANOTHER 15,000. SO I HOPE I DONT GO PRISON NOW!!! THANKS TO MR. GRADFORDS UNBECOMING BEHAVIOR TOWARDS THE CLIENTS HES SUPPOSEDLY THERE TO HELP. HES A JOKE. HES NOT THE BEST. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME

He is very intelligent, and comfortable to talk too and be around. He has been the best all around attorney my family has ever hired. Everything he said he might be able to do for me and my case, he made happen. And some. He did even better than he told me he could do when ii first talked to him. Alanzo actually cares about his clients and is worth every dollar. He is the best of the best and he is so nice, and genuine. The case i hired him for wasnt my first time getting in trouble. But it was the first time I was going to go to prison for years. The public defender that was assigned to my case told me that the best deal he could make with the DA, was six years with half time and a strike and I had to serve my time in state prison. And my fingerprint was found inside the house so if I took it to trial i would most likley loose... That wasn't acceptable for me because i just had a baby and was living out of state with a full time job and living a sober honest life. So i decided to hire an attorney that way it would delay my pre-trial. Since they had my fingerprint, i thought there was no hope for me an beating my case. But after talking Alanzo, i felt like there was hope. Everything he said sounded so good. So at first I just thought he was just good at telling me what i wanted to hear, that way i would hire him... Well long story short; everything single thing he told me, HAPPENED!!! And some. After he delayed my case for a year, and he only promised about 6-8 months. And he made it to where i didnt even have to go to court the whole time because i live out of state. He just showed up for me. Witch was really convenient fo me because i work and would get fired if the knew i was calling off because im fighting a home invasion case in CA. And to top it all off, today i was able to take a plea deal and finally resovle my case. I have to 1 year in county with half time and 2 years supervised probation and NO STIKES or robbery/burglary charge!!! AMAZING.

A few months back I got into some trouble when I was referred to Alonzo. I was facing three charges, needless to say Mr Gradford was able to get the two most serious charges dropped & the third reduced from a DUI to a dry reckless. At first I felt his fees were a little high but he provided me with a very flexible payment plan & in hindsight was worth every penny. I would absolutely recommend his services. Thanks Alonzo :)

Harry was referred to me by a few friends who were introduced to him through their business ventures. I do not like lawyers because they like to cause more problems then solve them. This wasn't the case with this guy. He may not have all the answers right away, but he gets you the answers. He does not come up with excuses but rather tells you, the client, your options. He helps you make an informed decision and the long term consequences of such action. He is very attentive and responsive. I emailed him at 3 in the morning, and he responded within a few minutes! I thought it would be bad when I get the bill for such a late email and quick response, but he didn't even charge me as he felt that he didn't render any legal services. He's a great person, and very personable and intelligent. He has a lot of experience and education under his belt but his very modest. This education and experience makes him my go to person for all my legal needs. He may not do a particular issue, but he has always given me direction on where I can go to get help. My recent needs required a family law attorney. Harry worked in Legal Aid and was familiar with Family Law and put me in contact with other experience professionals who were able to help. His reputation with his fellow attorneys speaks for itself. Talking to other friends who have used him for their legal needs, I think he is very unique person and gives the legal profession a different meaning. He is helpful, very pleasant, and overall a great person. Please keep up the good work Harry! Orange county needs more lawyers like you!

I rarely write responses or reviews unless I have something to say. Harry is a great person and an attorney that cares. He would get back to me in a prompt manner with the answers I needed. He didn't even charge me for little things as he said it wasn't fair to bill me. How many times do you have an attorney say that? This made him shine in my eyes. He cared about my money and understood this perspective of a client. He has earned my business and long term loyalty.

I nick named Jim "lightning" because his response time was so fast and also because he brings enlightenment to the situation. And when you reach the resolution you know "lightning has Struck". Jim is tuff but has the maturity to look for the win/win. My best endorsement is that I recommend him to clients.

My wife and I chose The Struck Firm to handle our wills recently, not only for their solid reputation, but also for the knowledge and professionalism Mr. Struck brought to the table. We knew he was the right choice after our first meeting. He answered every question we had and the end result was exactly what we were in search of. Legal verbage can be pretty intimidating at times and Jim made sure my wife and I knew exactly what everything meant. We felt the whole firm went the extra mile for us and really, what more could you ask?

Mr forkner is a very good attorney he's been helping me with my case I know he has a good reputation I have nothing but good things to say about him. But one of his securities is very rude and says things like she is an attorney and is 100% sure and when she is proven wrong she uses the "well I'm not an attorney" and she has been very rude every time I have talked to her she has no idea what me and forkner speak about and says things without knowing our strategy!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Modesto, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
