Be careful the billing is corrupt and the case will drag on with no attempt to resolve.

Lindsey was- from start to finish- such a relief and support to my during custody mediation last year. From the very first consultation, she was honest with me about the likely steps in the process and even provided me an accurate timeline for how long it would take to resolve my custody issue. She has a direct, calm, measured demeanor and seems unflappable. This is exactly what you want from a lawyer during one of the most stressful things you can go through. She level-set my expectations while also providing me with an ear to listen as needed, via email, zoom, or phone call (these are scheduled as part of the process but when mediation did not go as planned, she debriefed with me and helped me understand what was to come. My case was a long-distance custody situation: my son and I have lived outside of stanislaus county for years and that makes filing paperwork, paying fees etc, more difficult. Her office handled this for me. Thank you Lindsey and staff for all you do!

Kevin unfortunately was a waste of $7500. I hired him for a domestic violence RO, child custody and support matters. I asked him numerous times to request attorneys fees in my case, but he never pursued this. I never met Kevin because his colleague would always show up in his place to my hearings. Unfortunately, her fee was higher than his and I was forced to pay a higher rate while feeling left uncertain about what was going on. When I asked Kevin specific questions or advice he’d be vague at best and never provided good clarity, direction or strategy on my case. I certainly never felt satisfied by Kevin’s services. I brought these issues up to his office numerous times and received rather rude and cold responses, with my questions never being directly answered. I would never hire Kevin again and wouldn’t recommend his services either.

First and foremost, I would like to thank Lindsey Bannerman and her team for all their support throughout my custody hearing! Lindsey explained the process and delivered professionally. Every question I had was answered along with every call, and every email, her calm and empathetic demeanor offered emotional security for myself, and the ones I love. I absolutely recommend Lindsey. She is affordable and knows exactly what she is doing, She is amazing at what she does, and is very well known in the courts. I will forever be grateful for her. Thank you Lindsey for everything!

Harry was referred to me by a few friends who were introduced to him through their business ventures. I do not like lawyers because they like to cause more problems then solve them. This wasn't the case with this guy. He may not have all the answers right away, but he gets you the answers. He does not come up with excuses but rather tells you, the client, your options. He helps you make an informed decision and the long term consequences of such action. He is very attentive and responsive. I emailed him at 3 in the morning, and he responded within a few minutes! I thought it would be bad when I get the bill for such a late email and quick response, but he didn't even charge me as he felt that he didn't render any legal services. He's a great person, and very personable and intelligent. He has a lot of experience and education under his belt but his very modest. This education and experience makes him my go to person for all my legal needs. He may not do a particular issue, but he has always given me direction on where I can go to get help. My recent needs required a family law attorney. Harry worked in Legal Aid and was familiar with Family Law and put me in contact with other experience professionals who were able to help. His reputation with his fellow attorneys speaks for itself. Talking to other friends who have used him for their legal needs, I think he is very unique person and gives the legal profession a different meaning. He is helpful, very pleasant, and overall a great person. Please keep up the good work Harry! Orange county needs more lawyers like you!

I rarely write responses or reviews unless I have something to say. Harry is a great person and an attorney that cares. He would get back to me in a prompt manner with the answers I needed. He didn't even charge me for little things as he said it wasn't fair to bill me. How many times do you have an attorney say that? This made him shine in my eyes. He cared about my money and understood this perspective of a client. He has earned my business and long term loyalty.

I nick named Jim "lightning" because his response time was so fast and also because he brings enlightenment to the situation. And when you reach the resolution you know "lightning has Struck". Jim is tuff but has the maturity to look for the win/win. My best endorsement is that I recommend him to clients.

My wife and I chose The Struck Firm to handle our wills recently, not only for their solid reputation, but also for the knowledge and professionalism Mr. Struck brought to the table. We knew he was the right choice after our first meeting. He answered every question we had and the end result was exactly what we were in search of. Legal verbage can be pretty intimidating at times and Jim made sure my wife and I knew exactly what everything meant. We felt the whole firm went the extra mile for us and really, what more could you ask?

Mr forkner is a very good attorney he's been helping me with my case I know he has a good reputation I have nothing but good things to say about him. But one of his securities is very rude and says things like she is an attorney and is 100% sure and when she is proven wrong she uses the "well I'm not an attorney" and she has been very rude every time I have talked to her she has no idea what me and forkner speak about and says things without knowing our strategy!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Modesto, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
