After a 30 year marriage an extended separation I found it necessary to file for divorce. Ms. Reno was there for me every step of the way. She was very thorough in her explanation of the whole process and made the tasks much more comfortable than I anticipated. I have great gratitude for her patience and kindness. I'm very happy with the results of my case. I have and I would again recommend Ms. Reno to anyone looking for an honest, knowledgeable and professional attorney.

I went through a very horrible divorce, and an extremely difficult child custody battle. Robin would always listen to all of my concerns, and addressed them as best as she could. She was very sympathetic to the pain the difficulties put me through. She would always make sure that I had answers to all of my questions in a timely manner. She never lied to me or try to sugar coat anything. She would just let me know the plain, and sometimes very hard, truths. She very patiently walked me through the whole long process. She always made sure that I knew all the good and bad possibilities, and prepared me for every possible outcome. She would always reassure me through the discouraging phases, and rejoice with me in the victories. After informing me of all the possible options we could take, she wouldn’t push me to go one direction or the other but, she would wait patiently for my decision on which path to take. After I was fully informed and had made my decision then, she would pursue that path wholeheartedly, with all her knowledge and skills. Thankfully in the end we were wonderfully victorious in our case. I say “we” because, with Robin you won’t feel you’re going through it alone. I truly believe the reason why we were so successful is because of Robin’s guidance, patience, knowledge and skill. She is a fantastic attorney, and I recommend her to everyone who wants only the highest quality attorney in their corner. Thank you Robin for all that you have done for me and my children.

Harry was referred to me by a few friends who were introduced to him through their business ventures. I do not like lawyers because they like to cause more problems then solve them. This wasn't the case with this guy. He may not have all the answers right away, but he gets you the answers. He does not come up with excuses but rather tells you, the client, your options. He helps you make an informed decision and the long term consequences of such action. He is very attentive and responsive. I emailed him at 3 in the morning, and he responded within a few minutes! I thought it would be bad when I get the bill for such a late email and quick response, but he didn't even charge me as he felt that he didn't render any legal services. He's a great person, and very personable and intelligent. He has a lot of experience and education under his belt but his very modest. This education and experience makes him my go to person for all my legal needs. He may not do a particular issue, but he has always given me direction on where I can go to get help. My recent needs required a family law attorney. Harry worked in Legal Aid and was familiar with Family Law and put me in contact with other experience professionals who were able to help. His reputation with his fellow attorneys speaks for itself. Talking to other friends who have used him for their legal needs, I think he is very unique person and gives the legal profession a different meaning. He is helpful, very pleasant, and overall a great person. Please keep up the good work Harry! Orange county needs more lawyers like you!

I rarely write responses or reviews unless I have something to say. Harry is a great person and an attorney that cares. He would get back to me in a prompt manner with the answers I needed. He didn't even charge me for little things as he said it wasn't fair to bill me. How many times do you have an attorney say that? This made him shine in my eyes. He cared about my money and understood this perspective of a client. He has earned my business and long term loyalty.

I nick named Jim "lightning" because his response time was so fast and also because he brings enlightenment to the situation. And when you reach the resolution you know "lightning has Struck". Jim is tuff but has the maturity to look for the win/win. My best endorsement is that I recommend him to clients.

My wife and I chose The Struck Firm to handle our wills recently, not only for their solid reputation, but also for the knowledge and professionalism Mr. Struck brought to the table. We knew he was the right choice after our first meeting. He answered every question we had and the end result was exactly what we were in search of. Legal verbage can be pretty intimidating at times and Jim made sure my wife and I knew exactly what everything meant. We felt the whole firm went the extra mile for us and really, what more could you ask?

Mr forkner is a very good attorney he's been helping me with my case I know he has a good reputation I have nothing but good things to say about him. But one of his securities is very rude and says things like she is an attorney and is 100% sure and when she is proven wrong she uses the "well I'm not an attorney" and she has been very rude every time I have talked to her she has no idea what me and forkner speak about and says things without knowing our strategy!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Modesto, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
