This attorney is the best advocate for children in Los Angeles. Highly recommend. If you want a persistent "fighter" for your children, look no further. Ms. Inguanzo is a tireless advocate who will obtain justice for her clients, and go to the wall! Yet she is also extremely caring and genuine as she takes personal time with her clients, regardless of age. She is fearless and gentle, all at once. She is thorough and leaves no stone unturned. Communication is excellent, except she does not text. Found that odd. However, there is no other attorney I would ever want to represent children then her. One meeting and you will see what I mean. Amazing woman.

Mr. Li's firm represented me in my L1 case. The case was quite complicated and we did rounds of back and forth with the USCIS. At the end, I was pleased with the outcome and happy with the firm. I would recommend their firm to my friends and family. They are really good at what they do and they are very responsive to their clients.

After 2 years of fighting a trade secret infringement case we had a major victory against our competitor as we fenced off their claims. Li was very professional and prompt, knowledgeable and handle my case with uppermost concern. He is very responsive, he walk me through the legal process and pick up my calls all the time and return my calls right away, even during the weekend. I done business with other downtown LA firms in the past, and Mr. Li’s charge is very reasonable. He understand our needs for budgeting so whenever he discuss the legal options with us, he will do a cost-effective analysis and make sure we made the move that is legally right and within our budget. Honestly, I couldn’t ask for a better lawyer and I would strongly recommend him to my peers.

Mr. Li first handled a contract matter for my business and afterward became the general counsel for my company. As my company expands oversea, from time to time, I had couple questions that had to do with cross-boarder legal issues and I wanted to know if I was crossing any line with what I wanted to do and Mr. Li always gave me very solid advice. I worked with two other attorneys in the past and Mr. Li is very reasonable with his billing. I highly suggest you give Mr. Li a call if you have any question. If anything, I know Mr. Li got my back.

At the time my ex-husband had custody of my 3 children, my son was living with me and my two daughters were living with their father but I needed an attorney to help me fight for me to have my 3 children together. I was desperate for an attorney looking everywhere, every attorney charging a fee for a consultation I didn't had the amount thanks to god I found Phatch, I was nervous at first but he did everything in his power to help me and my children have my 3 children. I can't describe in word but phatch his an awesome person, his understanding and pushes for the judge or commissioner to see the picture of the situation. now thanks to phatch my daughter's and son are happy to be together and not have to wait till is my time for me to see my daughters. My oldest daughter she can now go back to Maryland knowing her siblings will be happy and secure. I can't thank you enough Phatch I recommend him to anyone that have a custody problem issue.

I could not be happier to have had Sergio answer my call when I called his law firm. I explained to him my case, he was informative and put me at ease right away. Throughout the process he kept me up to date and made the process painless. He was prompt with his replies, extremely honest and always made sure to remind me there is a light at the end of it all. He was able to get me the best case scenario for my case and although I hope we won't need his services often, he is someone I will recommend and use if we need an attorney. What I appreciated most and why I am writing this review is that he did not treat this like another case and I wasn't just another client, he truly cares and goes the extra mile!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Monterey Park, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
