Mike went above and beyond for me, handling my case and getting my freedom back for me! I can't say enough about him. I can count on one hand how many people have helped me in my life and he is one of them. You won't be disappointed if you choose him to defend you, I personally know that!!

I retained Singleton-Smith to represent me on a post-divorce case with OP trying to modify my familiy support order. Prior to retaining them, I handled the case for several months on my own, submitting documents to the court and completing my own I&E, document demand on the OP, as well as hiring a forensic accountant to dig in to OP’s finances. I retained Singleton Smith to remove some of the stress I was under. It was not supposed to be complicated, but was a total disaster for the first several months. Most documents they put together were flawed, erroneous, untimely, both invalidating and weakening my case by important court deadlines being missed, lack of responses, and 11th hour fixes. I had a way better handle on my own case than anyone at this law firm, and I’m not a professional in the legal field. They switched paralegals on me three times. After the 2nd one quit the firm, I was assigned a 3rd paralegal two months into my retainer. Thank God for Ashley Marcoux, who was competent and capable, where no one else was, at least with my case. Had she not been hired and then assigned to my case, I would have fired Singleton-Smith for gross incompetency. This firm missed important court-appointed deadlines even after I questioned why responses weren’t filed that were due. They suggested I serve documents that had already been served and filed as well as communicated months earlier, and timely response or notifcation on documents received by OP were missed entirely, with an I&E and Declaration that was filed last minute with incorrect information. When the OP sent a settlement proposal, the office did not even acknowledge or review it with me in a timely manner. I was never cc’d on emails or filings to the OP, and felt out of the loop completely. My best interests were not considered, and I was constantly repeating information that should have just been in the file. Then when paralegals would read or re-read the file, I was charged again and would have to ask for adjustments. I felt uninformed, unimportant, and even had to log into the county’s court website myself on several occasions to obtain documents and information my attorney's office was neglecting to inform me about. They repeatedly commented that most clients are not as educated on the process or as capable as I was, so they don’t usually deal with skilled clients. What a horrible excuse for their flawed process. My responses were never acknowledged even after responding to their weekly courtesy check email. I had to call nearly three weeks later to find out what their best practices were and why I never received a response or simple acknowledgment of my concerns. They had missed my responses to their courtesy checks entirely, so why even check in with clients if they conveniently lose or don’t read those responses? This operation is a total joke. I was assigned to John Cannon a week before my hearing, so prep and getting him up to speed was difficult. In the end, he was the best thing for my case, and truly felt his care and attention for my situation. The week after my final hearing, I was notified that he left the firm. I was not surprised at all; attrition absolutely is an issue with the legal staff that was assigned to my case. My final hearing was on 12/19/23, and my case was not closed out until 4/16/24. I’m unsure why a simple filing of ‘findings and order after hearing’ and ‘substitution of attorney’ took four months to complete, file, close my case, and return my trust refund. I would never do business with this firm again, and would highly recommend that others consider different options.
