Fights under acts that make 0 sense unless you are a registered Native American. Does not fight for 5.534, 5.682, wic 317e, or the 14th amendment. Is a joke of a lawyer. I had no choice but her, and she purposely screwed me! Will be taking this further as I’m still in the statutes. She’s part of a system stealing federal money! Part of the people stealing the 14th amendment rights of parents and then trying to lie to them. Shiester!

I have both worked for Ms. Keller and with her. I am her web developer and I've also had the pleasure of working with her on a mutual project where I was a writer and she was the legal counsel. As a client she is attentive, open and respectful and gave her opinions in the most constructive ways. As a lawyer (and I've worked with many) she demonstrated the highest levels of integrity, intelligence and experience I've ever encountered. She truly cared and took the time to fully understand and flesh out the most effective strategies. She also went over and above in regards to making sure we were educated about legal protocols and requirements. I'd recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat!!

Attorney Keller is trustworthy to a fault. She never gives up and is always looking for a way to continue to fight for her clients. She wrote an amazing brief for me to help me save my home and because of her we won an unlawful detainer, which is unheard of. Her work was so outstanding that the Judges involved made mention of the arguments and attention to detail. She loves to research so she is always very well informed. I'm so grateful to have found her. Thank you Roni for all you do to help your clients!

I found myself in a very difficult situation whereby I am acting as a father raising a 6-year old her whole life but was unaware of all the legal complexities and complications which can arise from that. Roni was able to educate me, after doing extensive research, on my rights and a few possible courses of action which would be good for all parties involved. She is not only extremely intelligent and very well-versed in the law on family- and child-related matters but has common sense and looks at the human dimension of issues as well. Her work was excellent and done for a very fair price.

Roni was referred to me by a close friend who values Roni’s knowledge of the law, integrity, compassion, and honesty. My experience with Roni proved those qualities to be true. At the outset, Roni clearly explained to me relevant issues, application of the law, and potential outcomes; she makes no false promises or bravado. Roni is a tenacious and passionate advocate, and she was very responsive to all of my needs and questions. Roni’s client-centered focus is unwavering; she remained focused on important issues and did not go off on trivial tangents in order to line her own pockets. Having had experience with other attorneys, I can attest to these being exceptional qualities. I highly recommend Roni.

Ben did a wonderful job on two contracts for my business. I'll be using the work he did for years to come, so I feel this was an excellent investment. He both listened to my business needs, and also suggested additional language beyond what I'd thought of. That's the ideal combo you want in a lawyer and business advisor.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Newbury Park, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
