John Stanley & associates ripped me off for close to 10,000 dollars I retained him for his services and all he did was work with the DA he is a slick talker that should be band from doing law he has a son that’s in and out of rehab if he can’t help his own son what makes you think he can help you he’s just in it for the money, all these good reviews he has are fake so he can real you in and take your money, everyone is entitled to your discovery, so I ask for mine and he tries to charge me 10,000 then I tell him I will pay it , so I’m told thru his secretary Celine that at the DA says I can’t have it, and I can come in and see it so a month goes by and I call and now I can’t see it because it’s cealed makes no sense

What a relief to have the services of John J Stanley and Associates covering my case! I will be eternally grateful for the recommendation I was given to seek counsel with this firm. Unlike most attorney services, John Stanley went beyond the initial consultation and also offered, at his expense, to make the required initial contact with the prosecuting agency on my behalf. From this point, I retained his services, and he laid the groundwork for a fair and objective arbitiration in lieu of a formal court hearing, ultimately leading to a dismissal of the charges against me. I sincerely appreciate the calm, professional and uplifting manner of service, the wise counsel, and the peace I was given throughout the process. John J Stanley and Associates stands by their philosophy to "work it out" first before having to go to trial.

The Criminal Defense Attorney, John Stanley and Associates are a “Class Act”! The Jurors in my winning, “Not Guilt” case stated: “Mr. Stanley, if I ever need a defense attorney, YOU are the man; I NEED YOUR BUSINESS CARD!” Within 1 minute, all Mr. Stanley’s business cards were gone; Puff! The very first time I met Mr. Stanley, he simply asked me to tell him what happened…; and I did. Mr. Stanley paid very close attention to what I stated and probably paid even closer attention to what I DID NOT state. Mr. Stanley then directed me to “dry my tear” and informed me “I” am my best asset in my case. Mr. Stanley believed in my innocence and he feverishly tried to avoid going to court; but upon realizing a court battle was unavoidable Stanley and Associates sank their teeth in and took a huge bit out of the injustices I endured! Mr. Stanley Associate, Rafael came to court to hear the reading of the verdict. I thanked Rafael for being there, Rafael said to me; “Of course… you are family and family is there for each other!” The two things in my eyes that personify Mr. Stanley is his belief in his client, his attention to details and his Hollywood style that captivated the jurors. The jurors in my winning case stated, “This is the kind of defense attorney I would want to represent me”…; his business cards were in such demand, Stanley ran out of his business cards! Patricia, Los Angeles CA C'est la vie!

I worked with Vardan on my accident case in which my whole family was involved and our car was totaled. Vardan is absolutely the best attorney you can find. He has outstanding customer service skills and is available to answer questions at any time of the day. He also explains the process in great details, lets you know of next steps and keeps you informed throughout the lengthy process, which can take up to 2 years to finalize. He put together comprehensive documentation for our case and earned us maximum settlement with the auto insurance. In addition, thanks to his outstanding negotiation skills, he was able to reduce the treating doctors' lien claims, which further increased our settlement. We were very pleased with the outcome of our personal injury case. I wholeheartedly recommend Vardan and his entire law group.

I am so grateful to find Atty. Ed Lindain, he’s been there all through out my immigration journey/process from student visa to now lawful permanent resident! I was also able to petition my daughter from the Philippines and she’s been a green card holder since 2022! I was so anxious to start the process because I have a complicated case but with the help of his advice and guidance I was able to achieve my green card confidently because I know I’m in good hands! I will definitely recommend atty. Ed!

Their office was very prompt to answer inquiries, and they were organized as much as possible. They gave lists when needed especially with the requirements, set up meetings in a timely manner, and accommodated our schedules. Atty. explained the rationale behind every step of the process and thoroughly explained my options and possible outcomes. It felt that I was over prepared when it was my turn for the interview. They were very transparent with fees from start to end. Thank you Atty. and Joseph!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of North Hollywood, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
