I've worked with the Nieves Law Firm for close to a year and can say that they are a group that truly cares about justice and the law. People make mistakes and get tangled up in circumstances that they didn't intend. One bad decision, or being in the wrong place at the wrong time can have long term impacts on lives of those caught up in the criminal justice system. The team at Nieves never sees their clients as criminals. They are professionals who work hard to restore a person's dignity and respectability. Think about how you want to be treated by your attorney for the money you pay them. Do you want to save a few bucks to be treated like just another criminal, or do you want to invest in your freedom and get a great outcome in your case? Call Nieves to be treated right.

My experience with The Nieves Law firm is amazing. Best part no false hope or promise they do. Attorney Jose Gonzalez is so knowledgeable person, His presentation to judge is speechless. I got permanent restraining order on very first date . His efforts, law ruling study is excellent. Their whole team is very professional and reachable and above all Attorney Jo Anna herself keep eye on every case and it seems before submission of final arguments they discuss each and every point with their seniors in team . They truly deserve 5 stars.

I am giving this firm 2 stars because the lawyer assigned to our case dressed well, was nice, and cared enough about his family to go out of the country when a family member died. The rest of the firm is garbage. The measure of great service is not what you do when things go well, but how you react when they go poorly and the lengths your company will go to to make an upset customer feel heard. The "five-star service" advertised by The Nieves Law Firm is VERY far from it. My advice to potential customers of this firm is this: ask them at least 3 times in 3 different ways what a realistic outcome for your case is. Sometimes the best answer is, sorry, we probably can't do much for you, the county court doesn't allow lawyers to participate in a meaningful way to civil harassment cases, and Oakland will only enforce restraining orders if the person doing the harassment is violent. Instead their response was essentially give us $7000 and things will probably work out. They didn't. The harassment got worse. When we reached out to them again for help, they demanded $10,000 more to go to court for contempt proceedings, an outcome they made no effort to inform us of as a possibility ahead of time. Worse, I might have asked them at some point, but simply ASKING A QUESTION, no matter how short of an answer is required cost at least $40. I have read other negative reviews on here, and seen a pattern: all negative reviews are met with hostility, not acknowledgment and reassurance that they will work to improve in the future. I hope you enjoy my $7000 Ms Nieves. I can't say I enjoyed the $10,000 in lost income from court dates that would never have occurred if you'd just been honest with us from the start. Nor am I enjoying the $8000 in moving expenses to get away from a neighbor who you failed to provide any protection from. Nor did we enjoy the stress from having to get her and her homophobic and racist son served since you refused to provide competent help in serving them or even better advice than "just get a friend to do it". Nor did I enjoy the hostile response to criticism when we informed you of how deeply disappointing, and damaging financially and emotionally your poor service was. Not will I enjoy the bankruptcy court that is now the most likely outcome for me from the above expenses and lack of support in a critical time for me. Nor have I enjoyed the damage to my little remaining self confidence when I couldn't even hire a competent lawyer to get a simple restraining order with overwhelming evidence of abuse on the part of the respondents granted. It is entirely my fault for believing the phony 5 star reviews. UPDATE: I am changing the rating to one star because of your response Ms. Nieves. To be clear, my primary issue with your firm was your honesty about possible outcomes of the case, which lead to us wasting what little money we had instead of just moving. I fully understand that no outcome is guaranteed, I’m not stupid as you seem to think all your clients are. I’m just gullible enough to think that you actually cared about the outcome of my case and would provide helpful advice instead of throwing us to the wolves. A 5-star customer service response would be more like this: I’m sorry your experience with our firm was not as you expected or hoped. We strive for the best service possible, but are not always successful. If you would feel comfortable sharing more with me about your experience and how we could improve it, here is how you can contact me directly. No business has perfect reviews, and no business always has the best outcome. Good business admit and learn from their mistakes, and listen to their customers when they are upset. You have to be able to empathize with your customers even when you don’t think their negative response is appropriate. If you can’t do this, you have no business in a customer service related field.

No one ever wants to ever find themselves needing a defense attorney. But if you do end up needing a defense attorney, you definitely want….. Well, lets just say this; you dont take a knife to a gunfight. You take a laser guided missile. I found myself requiring counsel when one the two harassers who had been harassing my girlfriend and I for over a year took her terror tactics too far. My girlfriend and I were in court one day on the matter of a restaining order and were both very impressed by an attorney who was vigorously representing her client who was being harassed. Her name is Grace Goodman. We watched as Grace successfully argued against opposing counsels requests for motions and time. My partner and I looked at one another and we agreed that we had to speak with her. It was the best decision. We spoke outside of the courtroom for a bit. a phone call and a visit later and Grace Goodman was representing me in my harassment case. The end result was getting my harassers retaliatory request for a TRO thrown out, have my request to a stay away order against my harasser granted and recoup my attorneys fees. ✅…..✅….and ✅. Hey, Grace! Thank you very much for your hard work and professionalism. You were inspiring to watch. I so respect a person who fights for what they believe is right and won’t…can’t back down.
