My 89 yr old mom arrived from Hawaii last month. She was noticeably weaker and more forgetful. When she fell backwards and hit the back of her head, we both knew she needed an estate plan to get her affairs in order. I contacted Mike who had worked with me on the sale of my house in Oakland 10 years ago and asked for recommendation for an estate planning attorney. Mike told me he had opened his estate planning practice. I now live in Roseville. Mike agreed to meet me and my mom half way between my house and his office in Oakland. He spent several hours with us, explaining all the options and choices that my mom could make. My mom was very hesitant about giving any one of her children a power of attorney over her finances. Mike explained the options, their strengths and weaknesses, and created a plan that my mom felt comfortable with. After this first meeting, we had a second meeting, again, Mike meeting us halfway, to discuss the final documents. My mother is happy and we are much more at ease knowing that my mom's property, her health care decisions and what to do about her finances if she ever becomes disabled, is taken care of. Also, his rates are very reasonable.

Mike was very helpful with my will and trust documents, in revising them to meet my own needs and preferences. He knew how to advise me with awareness and skill, how to hear my needs, and address them effectively. I have not used his services for the probate process, but know him to be high energy, knowledgeable, and caring.

Mike was thorough, professional, personable and patient with me and my siblings during a very difficult process that took a year to complete through the court. Not only did Mike prepare a complete and package of a living trust for me (revocable living trust, pour over will, power of attorney, advance health care directive, forms for putting my house into the trust), he prioritized my project, did his part on schedule, and gave me assignments so we could get it done before my deadline of my birthday and leaving for a hiking vacation in Italy. He not only beat that deadline, he did it with kindness, thoughtfulness, and a sense of humor that made it easy for me to make the myriad decisions that those documents require. In addition, we had all our meetings on Saturdays at his house, which was in my neighborhood. This saved me a lot of time and I didn’t have to miss work. I did phone interviews with several lawyers, and Mike was the one I felt most comfortable with, and as we worked together, I realized that he is simply a genuinely good guy. As a bonus to all these qualities, Mike also happened to offer the least expensive package for this task. I recommend him highly.

I had a probate issue which Michael resolved professionally and efficiently. Met with him once in person and a few times over the phone re getting needed paperwork. Because of covid, courts were backed up so had to wait for a court date. When we finally got before the judge, Michael presented the case and the matter was resolved. done...and DONE!

I hired Michael Broad to represent my interests in submitting a Heggstad Petition to the Court. Specifically, the title to my property was in my deceased wife's name and needed to be placed in my Trust. Mr Broad successfully obtained the Court's approval to transfer the title without going through Probate. He provided excellent advice, prepared the necessary documents and demonstrated a broad understanding of the entire process. I highly recommend him
