Shelly did an amazing job for my family. She took our case a little more than a week before the court date. Between her and her paralegal they were able to put together all my paperwork and form our arguments. Shelly did a great job negotiating as well. Really happy with her work. I gave her a 1 star because the communication was always last minute and/or non-existent. This should have been a cake walk. But I gradually lost full custody and then was hit with sanctions AFTER the other party had already been to my house to retrieve their stuff multiple times. And then Covid hit, and with all of the restrictions, I didn’t want strangers in my house, and since she didn’t bother submitting screenshots to force the judge to look, I was hit with $2,791 in sanctions. She just didn’t bother putting up a reasonable fight at all. After the sanctions, she then verbally told me that we could NOT appeal. Only for me to contact a legal person, after the time for an appeal time expired, and he said that I had “x” amount of days and that what she said was untrue. I’ll NEVER recommend her because 1 year later, she still has never replied to my actual CONCERNS, but she did give me horrible and inaccurate advice. She should know who this is, and the only RIGHT thing for her to do is to contact me (email or phone) to file proper paperwork to get me off the sanctions or have it forgiven. I had literally sent her messages where I told the other party to get their stuff although we were deep into a pandemic and she didn’t even bother printing them and presenting it in court. Don’t even get me started with how poorly the agreement was written. The other party is constantly claiming our daughter on taxes and yanked her out of all the medical stuff in which I had enrolled her, and then started new programs and medical stuff, only for the other party to hide the fact that my daughter was diagnosed with autism…I’ll be honest, I almost think Shelly had her hand in with the other party the whole time. The other party had a lawyer who was ready to fight. Shelly was just passive. So, buyer/customer beware of the possibility of wasting money with her firm. I implore you, if your situation is delicate and you are facing any type of mental or emotional damage from it, do not allow this attorney to represent you. I had a very difficult, high-conflict and stressful child custody situation that began 2013. I was referred to Mrs. John in I believe 2015 or 2016 by a stranger who overheard my dilemma and what I had been experiencing in court. It was very difficult and I had lost all hope and emotional/mental fortitude to continue this battle alone. I needed protection for our son and myself from a true textbook narcissist. I poured my heart out in pure frustration and hopelessness. I decided to retain her based on her seemingly being knowledgeable, passionate about bringing fairness/truth/defense to our situation, understanding what I was facing dealing with an abuser and trying to protect our son and myself from any further mental anguish and also understanding that I had nothing left to give and needed her help. To make a long story short, I was made false promises, lied to many times by her assistant (not sure if it was by order of Mrs. John or not) and to add insult to injury, she abandoned my case by filing a false statement to the judge stating that I made an appointment with her and never showed up, and that I had poor communication, when the truth was my calls were never returned and I called once to ask ONE question for clarity and her assistant told me that I would need to meet with her and pay an additional, I believe it was $250.00. This was after I had already paid over $300.00 (I believe) for our initial meeting and her $3000.00 retainer fee. Here I am, 7 years later, still being drug into court over the same situation, going through the same abuse both in and out of court. I gave her all the money I had at the time and she abandoned my case without warning or truth behind what was filed with the court. Her and her husband (who by the way filed a motion that I asked him to hold off on and it ruined my chances to get a different judge for our case), made things actually worse. I have been going through hell non stop because of this situation and I completely trusted them. I feel that she took advantage of my mental and emotional state at the time. I was not in the right emotional state during the time to report the situation back then, but I am now and I feel that I should report this situation to the Bar Association. This happened so many years ago and for this attorney's page to randomly come across my feed like this....this just fell into my lap by accident and I believe maybe this was a sign that I needed write this as a warning to someone or even that I need to still report this.

I came across this lawfirm from the metooCPS IG page. I called Walter and asked him pertinent questions to find out how he could represent clients to their benefit, unlike the court appointed attorneys. Just to be fair, many private attorneys also do not operate to their clients benefit as they took an oath to the crown. Walter shared that before becoming a private attorney, he was operating as a court appointed attorney. That raised some concern, however, that also provided me with certainty that he knows how corrupt other court appointed attorneys may be as well as COUNTY COUNSEL and JUDGES. Unfortunately he isn't accepting pro bono cases at this time., but he does offer payment programs for eligible parents. According to Walter, he has been practicing CPS cases for a little over 3 years altogether. He claims to be familiar with writs for appeals as well. I asked him how soon he'd be ready to start filing specific motions in my case such as a JV-180 along with a correction of the record if I were to retain him and provide him with all of the minute orders and video's and exculpatory evidence just in general to learn the background of the case., and he assured that he wouldn't waste time in filing the motions. I asked if he had availability to take on cases and he said he has 100% availability. I am not an attorney, but I am also not a parent who doesn't know the process of certain hearings such as the difference between JURIS and DISPO hearing and the evidence required for both. Walter appears to be the guy to help families mend. I have not personally had him work on my case, but this may change in the near future. Walter appears very assertive as well as accurate with his knowledge on the processes of court and what's expected of CPS as well as the opposing attorneys. The reason why I gave him a 4 star rating is based on his knowledge of what to expect for filing certain motions, and based on his word that he will fight from the beginning to get children returned home. I can't give a 5 star when I don’t know for myself if he's actually about what he says. I will say this, I am not a person you can easily persuade because I am aware of SDM which is the Structured Decision Making Manual of Policy and Procedure that CPS is required to abide by...the Dependency Quick Guide for attorneys representing children and parents, the CA STATE BAR RULES attorneys are subject to...and the CA Legislative WIC codes., as well as the Court Rules that JUDGES are subject to.

Walter has incredible energy; you can tell he loves his profession. He takes the time to explain everything and keeps communication. I wish we had found him years ago to help us with our immigration case.

Very helpful and knowledgeable person. Easy to reach. He explained me everything regarding expedite visa process before I decided to go ahead and paid the fee. Unfortunately my expedite case was declined but I was very confident about my case with him. However, He will resend the application again. I would highly recommend Walter if you have immigration case and want a professional and reliable lawyer.
