When you realize you need legal support; it feels really intimidating. From the very first conversation I had with Kiran – I felt at ease and in great care. Kiran is direct, strong, professional and she makes the process feel way less scary. In preparing for trial, and in experiencing trial for the first time in my life, I felt covered and supported with Kiran in my corner. She prepared and presented our case with clear intention, and she knows how to be heard. She was prompt in responding, on-time to scheduled meetings and early to trial dates, prepared, organized and concise in her delivery. The outcome of my case landed right where I hoped it would. I don’t hope to need representation again, and yet myself and everyone in my circle know where to go if we do. If you are wondering if Kiran is the right representation for your case, I would share that in the time we worked together I never questioned my choice.

Choosing the right lawyer when dealing with a difficult legal matter can be stressful. Our family needed legal representation for a complex domestic violence restraining order. We could not have made a better decision going with Kiran Bisla. Through the two month process and 5 days in court Mrs. Bisla consistently remained professional and was extremely knowledgeable and efficient. She was always on time, reliable, had great strategies and was thorough yet succinct with her research and witness interviews. She compassionately guided us through the entire process and was a force to be reckoned with in the court room. Mrs. Bisla helped us get every part of our restraining order granted and we will be continuing to use her for the divorce case as well as for any other legal representation in the future. She went above and beyond and is an incredibly caring, intelligent, and strong willed woman that we were glad to have fighting for us.

Kiran was hired to help my mother-in-law with a restraining order and divorce against her soon to be ex-husband. When he decided to put out restraining orders against myself, my husband, and my mother in law as a way to have leverage in their soon to be divorce, Kiran was there for us. This process felt like a nightmare in the beginning, but Kiran's intelligence and consistent due diligence helped ease our fears & anxiety. She was always prepared for court, and a constant professional. We ended up winning 100%. She was our rock through these turbulent times. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her.

PRAISES to Sky Law Group especially Miss Bisla for handling my case with exceptional diligence and veracity. Miss Bisla worked on a contract on my behalf and I am more than pleased with her work. I feel she went above and beyond to protect my interests and I would recommend her to anyone I know who has a business and needs to put a strong legal contract into place. She is tough on her client's behalf and is truly a pleasure to work with. A consummate professional!

Separating from a spouse is never easy. Emotionally, physically and financially, divorce is the most stressful thing you will ever go thru. So when I needed to file for a divorce and a restraining order, I was recommended Kiran thru a friend who had used her in her own cases and was exceptionally satisfied with the outcome. From the beginning Kiran was awesome to work with. She was very understanding and compassionate with my situation and was very attentive to my needs. She is readily available to answer any and all questions you may have and never ever made me feel like I was bugging her, even though I had so many questions and felt like I was calling and texting her 1000 times a day. Kiran is a professional. She was very straight forward and honest with me regarding my case from day one, was deliberate in all her actions, was efficient at filing all the piles of necessary paperwork, and more importantly was very reliable and always on time for court, which is an absolute must when your paying lawyer fees. Her capabilities allowed me to trust her to handle my case, so that outside of court I did not have to worry about anything besides my own mental well being. Needless to say, she won my restraining order case, and I was granted full legal and physical custody for the full duration of the order, which was exactly what I was fighting for!! Awesome work, Kiran. She is now working on my divorce finalization. I look forward to getting thru the rest of the process with peace of mind, knowing I have a responsible and skilled attorney at my side.

Patrick is absolutely amazing. He is efficient and very responsive to inquiries. You can call him or text and he’ll get back to you the same day! He assisted my husband with a case regarding a suspended license and got it taken care of without him ever having to go to court. He appeared on my husband’s behalf. He even gave some great advice regarding an inquiry that he wasn’t retained for. Great attorney. Highly recommend.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Orange, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
