Watching Michael and Danny apply their knowledge and experience to navigate the legal system was beyond impressive. These guys are the brain surgeons of DUI defense. 2 years ago I found myself in a terrible situation trying to find a reputable attorney for my older brother who was living in 29 Palms. I live in San Diego County, and had no idea who I should contact. Thankfully an attorney friend of mine down here knew of Michael Goldstein's firm and suggested I contact them. There were many complications regarding my brother's case and I needed to feel like I was retaining someone who knew the area, the courts and would do all that was possible to help my brother. I didn't have any prior convictions when I was charged with a DUI. The case was dragged out 2 1/2 yrs "in case" dirt came up on the arresting officers (none did). Finally, he gave me option to plead guilty or go to trial with likelihood of guilty conviction by jury and harsher sentence. I plead guilty. I paid him to hopefully help me get a reduced charge but that was never offered in all the time we waited. I still had to pay thousands in court penalties, DUI classes, suspended license, reinstatement of license, 3 yrs of SR-22 insurance, and after that years of sky-high car insuarance. Basically, by hiring him, I prolonged my conviction and now the DUI appears on my driving record as having happened more recently than it did since the clock doesn't start ticking until conviction date. I wish he had been up front about that, and that most people do NOT get their charges reduced. Not a single person in the DUI classes I had to take got anything less after hiring attorneys, including the people I met who were also hired Michael Goldstein. It was a frightening and costly lesson for me, and I learned my lesson the hard way. Booze just isn't a friend, and neither was Michael, who admitted that he sometimes gets drunk & falls asleep at night in his chair. Ugh.

My 2 year old case was concluded in early March 2017 and, being fair to the charges against me, I was very pleased with the negotiated outcome. When I was cited with a DUI I had never been stopped for anything more than a minor speeding ticket and that was 10 years prior. At the recommendations of friends I interviewed 3 top attorneys and found that the other 2 attorneys spoke very highly of Michael's ability to work "magic." They also said that they did not handle the DMV piece of the charges, to their knowledge Michael was the only one who did. As I look back on the process I think it was key that Michael was able to represent me with the DMV as well as with the court. Brother Danny, the other part of the Goldstein team, was very familiar with the personalities of the people who worked at the DMV and was able to strategize because of that insight. Key to selecting the right attorney for representation in a DUI case is choosing one with the internal GPS to navigate the extremely rough and ever changing terrain of the criminal court system....Michael is that guy. Michael is very low key and avoids attention....when KMIR did a special on the DUI industry Michael was the only attorney interviewed and it was to his reluctance. Michael is very well known and respected by individuals who conduct the DMV classes. During these classes fellow students related horror stories about their attorneys did little for them....with little prep they would show up for the first court date that was over in a matter of minutes. Of the 20 people in my class, all but me had already been convicted and not one person got less than the full-on "DUI"..... Michael will have a larger up front fee than other attorneys but that was the only charge I ever paid despite additional charges that I'm aware he incurred. Michael actively stays on top of the latest in chain of custody issues, lab procedures, recent changes to the law, etc. as well as maintaining relationships with the experts in those fields. Basedon my personal experience, I strongly recommend Michael Goldstein for your DUI criminal and DMV defense needs.

Soon after I pulled away from the speeding stop, I questioned what I was certain was a false speed (just enough to not be eligible for traffic school). I was going to face it on my own, went to my own arraignment, then having mentioned it to a couple friends, had 2nd thoughts, and sought a lawyer. Michael is a skilled RIverside County DUI attorney. He is professional, gutty, and knows the tricky terrain of DUI law in California. He is well connected with the DA's office, and the DMV. We had a difficult case with hostile witnesses, an accident, and numerous other factors that did not bode well for my defense. To my credit, I kept my mouth shut, refused any/all chemical/PAS/Field Sobriety Tests, and called Michael the day after my arrest. Michael was a true pro from the beginning. He noted my injuries, police misconduct, sent investigators out, and immediately began working with the D.A. to attain a favorable outcome with the Superior Court. My goal was simple - there was to be NO DUI on my record. A Wet Reckless would have been satisfactory. Michael did one better, much better ... a Dry Reckless! The odds of attaining that plea are minimal at best, and I credit Michael's experience for my very favorable outcome. My insurance increase, fines, court time, and DUI classes were minimal. We lost at DMV, but I knew going in with a refusal, that was the likely outcome. He fought like hell with the DMV, and I was impressed with his tenacity.
