I hired Ms. Joyce, then it got delegated to her team and she wasn’t really involved in most of the rest of the work - which was surprising as I hired her specifically. The work of her team was a disaster.
She made little substantive effort to supervise their work, such as apparently never reading the final document to be submitted to court – which was . . . very bad.
Based on my experience, Ms. Joyce also seems to play fast and loose with the rules, which is the exact opposite of what you want from an attorney with the State Bar. This is not entirely surprising for a lawyer who worked at the CA State Bar during all the scandals of Girardi.
Overall, at times the idea that this team has passed the Bar, let alone represent clients, was honestly surprising. For example, Erin Joyce's filings in court messed up service of process, not just once, but multiple times – for over nine months. How do you mess up service of process once, let alone multiple times?
This was a rookie league error. Then Ms. Joyce argued in court a mistaken understanding of personal jurisdiction, missing first year Civil Procedure. The court tore their arguments apart. It was literally a clown show of stupidity. These guys are not just a joke they are downright dangerous.
Based on my experience, whereby they improperly disclosed privileged materials on multiple occasions, they don’t appear to take Attorney Client Privilege seriously – and if a lawyer doesn’t take that seriously, I would find alternative counsel real quickly.
The work quality I got from her team was laughably bad, my other lawyers referred to it as “garbage” and “unusable.” The billing was absolutely egregious, like how in the world did they bill this much for such garbage?
Don’t believe my word, just search online – Joyce has sued multiple clients when the clients terminate her for malpractice, and this isn’t surprising.
Most shady of all, when I got the bill for the "garbage" work they produced, I asked questions on the billables including whether Ms. Joyce had review them - Ms. Joyce never substantively responded to these inquiries.
In my experience, Joyce’s team’s lack of knowledge of operative law was astounding. For example, in my case, there were applicable state Supreme Court cases on the subject, but they spent almost no time (if any) on this type of research so failed to properly mount a defense.
Like another comment here, I had the Joyce team deliver a work product at the absolute 11th hour. Why? There was kind of plenty of time. And, in fact, after promises that it would be ready – instead, the final draft was provided on the final day it was due, and it was highly problematic and not ready for prime time.
Overall, if you are talking to Joyce, you probably need someone you can really trust - this is not that team. They have no idea what they are doing. Run away.
