I highly recommend John Park Law firm. My wife passed away from a rare cancer attributed to the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center in NYC. At the time of her passing we lived in California. Even though I now live in New York, any settlement from the 9/11 Victims Fund had to be distributed through an estate set up in California. John Park Law Firm did a great job handling the process of setting up the estate. They always quickly responded to any questions I had, always keep me informed of where any proceedings were at and what needed to be done next. They also understood that this would be a long process before the estate was settled. My family and I really appreciate all the work they did on our behalf.

I interviewed about 7 lawyers before I talked to John. After our brief consult it was clear he was the most knowledgeable and proficient in multiple overlapping sectors, you can’t discover all trust issues without being incredibly bussiness and tax saavy. He has the wisedom to forsee the unforeseen circumstances and to explain it in such a way that is clear and consise. He is not wasting your time to rack up a bill and he really listened to my unique complex situation. It was so clear how much attention he paid to my concerns with his attention to personal detail and I just felt such relief that I had such a strong advocate. I had a very complex situation and his experience was evident with how he seamlessly had solutions for everything. His pricing is also fair as I did get price estimates from all the lawyers I interviewed. The whole experience with John and his team was so professional and I felt very safe and protected working with them. I’m reccomending him to everyone I know!

It was a pleasure to work with John, Rocky and the rest of the team. John is very knowledgeable and helped us to understand what we had with our previous trust. He helped us to redo the trust to correct errors that previous amendments had introduced. Due to his knowledge we were saved from future problems. Thank you!

It’s a miracle! I was pulled over and charged with DUI in my personal car on July 23rd, even worse is I am a CDL driver. The very probable outcome would be CDL suspension, tough DMV hearing, IID installed, SR22 insurance pay, DUI Fine, and the worst, unemployment and get stuck in the miserable condition for a couple of years. Thanks be to God, I came across those real comments and cases like what I am writing down here and the details and descriptions convinced me. I did only one correct thing the next day: call Gorelick Law Office. It turns out a surprise conviction: wet reckless driving, no CDL suspension, no DMV hearing, no IID, no SR 22 insurance… I am wondering now maybe Lynn and Teresa could possibly have been able to dismiss my case if I had tried all my best. Tell Teresa and Lynn all your concerns and dare to expect a much better outcome, and trust them like nobody else, you’ll be surprised! Never drink and drive again!

I HIGHLY recommend Lynn as your DUI attorney! I am currently in nursing school and was extremely worried about my future in my program and as a nurse. I can not express how grateful I am to have had Lynn as my attorney. She and her paralegal, Teresa, have excellent communication which I appreciated as I had many questions revolving my case. They helped calm my anxiety and handled everything with my case so I could focus on my studies. Lynn had my DUI dropped to a wet & reckless and won my DMV case so no SR-22 insurance, interlock device, or suspended license. On top of all that, I had an unfortunate family event in which Lynn constantly checked in me & my family and even gave us resources to help us out. She truly cares for her clients and is the type of person you want handling your case!

Adam Gruen was recommended by an attorney with whom I had known for for years as the fellow to call for help with a frustrating litigation situation that occurred with a product I purchased and applied for my construction product. I unfortunately hired a different lawyer to help out at first with the objective of simply writing a letter to my insurance company to get them involved and represent me which is why I pay for insurance, Instead of writing a letter to demand my insurance get involved this other lawyer from Orinda, ca., went without my authorization and charged up within a week time over $10,000 dollars in what he said was research, his secretary copied typical stuff online in an impressive but useless folder, I was out of town when this nonsense was performed. I was then fortunately referred to Adam Gruen, not only did adam get my insurance involved immediately with a well written letter, but wrote a letter to the so called previous avaricious lawyer that kept sending me bills for over 10,000 dollars weekly, for his very useless online information. If you have an issue Adam will tell you up front if he can hlep, if he says he can, he does. If he feels he can't help he has the foresight to say he can't help without wasting your's or his time. Great guy to call for legal advice and or representation. Kirk G

I had a complex third party assignment case, and Phillip really came up with good solutions. I rate attorneys on knowledge, responsiveness, integrity, and the ability to think on their feet, and Phillip possesses all of these qualities. I will definitely hire him in the future, if the need arises.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Pleasanton, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
