Well, I had hired a lawyer for my DUI prior to finding Jim Dunn, so I have something to compare too. My previous lawyer was Mark Blair, recommended by a friend. Mark had a 6 page paper explaining why he deserved a $2000 retainer and why that was him being lenient. Mark came to court, stood in front of the judge, said his name, and the judge made a ruling and Mark wasn't even sure what it was. Mark was not personable, you always had to go through his secretaries, and it felt like we had to chase him down. We felt he didn't earn his money and I even went to jail anyway because of some honest miscommunications with with court that Mark was supposed to handle but didn't.
So after being forced out of my house early on a Saturday morning and thrown in jail, my girlfriend was able to get a hold of Jim Dunn, who not only visited me in jail on a Sunday evening, but took care of the paperwork to get me transferred to him while getting a court date that next Monday. He also didn't even need the retainer before he started working on my case. Jim had to fix a very complex situation due to some honest misunderstandings and injury's preventing my participation in my WWP.
Jim understands the law very well, he put it in terms I could understand, never lied about anything, and was able to get me the best possible ruling from the courts. He called me, actually called me several times check in and make sure everything was ok and that I was doing my homework to get free of this horrible, unorganized entity we call the justice system. There is so much more to this story, and there are so many more small things Jim did that made my previous lawyer seem more like a fraud.
If you ever get tangled in the many dangling strings of the law, you want Jim Dunn on your side. He is smart, educated, authentic, and hard working to say the very least and I'm glad to know him and have hired him.

Jim Dunn fixed my previous lawyers blunders, literally cost half as much, didn't charge me until my case was settled. He got me the best possible outcome after miscommunications with the courts, mostly my previous lawyer was to blame. There were countless little things that Jim did that won't get named here, but he visited me in Jail on a Sunday evening, he fixed the miswriting of the court scribe, a last minute catch on Jim's part, my case was first, his pay was second. I like him, he is personable, he called to check on me, I could call him and actually reach him, not go through a secretary and hope to be reached in the same day like my last lawyer. I would definitely hire him again and even form a partnership to become the family lawyer. If you have a run in with with law, you want Jim Dunn on your side, he only tells you the truth, and genuinely wants to help you!

I was looking at potentially years in State prison due to a DUI, but Mr. Dunn was able to guide me and help protect my rights. I was able to do probation and community service and get my life back in a year. He was also instrumental in helping me in the civil litigation process. Great Attorney, do yourself a favor and do a consultation.

I was a client of Mr. Dunn's and charged with a DUI. It was a very difficult time in my life and I was hoping that I would be able to find an attorney who would fight hard on my behalf. Instead of spending a single day in jail, I was able to get probation and community service. After a year of probation everything was settled and I was able to move on with my life. I recommend Mr. Dunn with full integrity and faith. If you are in trouble with the law, give him a call. His experience will guide you when you need it the most. Goodluck!

I was charged with a DUI looking at years in State prison. Mr. Dunn was able to communicate effectively with the Prosecutor and Judge to reduce my sentence to probation and community service. Furthermore, he was also able to help me guide against parties who wanted to sue me in civil court. I am very thankful for his experience guidance and hard work on my behalf. I would definitely recommend him as an Attorney to all my loved ones. Do yourself a favor and at least ask for his guidance before hiring a lawyer.

I am a 33 year old male who was arrested for a 1st DUI. I hired James to represent me for my DUI case. He gladly accepted my $9,000 payment and pretty much forgot about me and my case. He took over 10 months to get my discovery and MVARS from the CHP. I made multiple requests from him to get the discovery. His submissions to the court were cookie cutter templates that were cut and pasted and were not tailored to my case or facts in any way. He requested the breathalyzer and field sobriety results even thou I specifically told him I refused all tests. He did not file my DMV appeal writ in a timely manner.
I wanted to get my criminal hearing completed while my license was suspended for 1 year due to a breathalyzer refusal. He did not inform me of court hearings and when he did he told me the wrong date. He waived my right to a speedy trial without my authorization.
The bottom line is that I went through an entire 1 year driving suspension issued by the DMV. Now have gotten my license back and will have it suspended again by the criminal courts. Thus giving me a 18 month suspension instead of a 12 month suspension with both suspension running concurrently. Jim Dunn did not want to settle my case and made no effort to suppress evidence or question witnesses. He only wanted to take it to trial so that he could charge me another $10,000 dollars. Because of his lack of effort I will have my license suspended another 6 months.
I informed James that I would be filing a complaint with the California Bar Association due to his ineffective counsel. I am not upset with the outcome of my case because he didn't get anything done. I am disgusted with Jim because he is lazy and a liar. Good luck getting him on the phone once you pay him.

This guy never gives up. If there’s anything that can be done to win your case, he will try it. I had a tough case: blood test well over the limit, a very experienced, aggressive arresting officer, and a prosecutor who didn’t want to give an inch. It took a long time, and after a while, I just wanted to get it over with and plead to the DUI. But Mr. Dunn encouraged me to let him keep fighting.
There were multiple motion hearings on technicalities, and I think he even did a pre-trial appeal. I also appreciated that I never had to take off of work, and only had to go to court once at the very end. He was able to do all of the court dates without me. It took almost a year, but in the end, he got my charges reduced to playing my stereo too loud, and I was found “not guilty” of being over the limit.
Using the “not guilty”, Mr. Dunn got the DMV to wipe the DUI off of my record completely. This was critical to me because I work in the car business, and I'm on company insurance.
I also want to say that we agreed on a flat fee at the beginning, and he did not charge me any extra, even though my case probably took a lot more time in court than usual. If your case is important enough to hire a lawyer, get Mr. Dunn.

It is nearly impossible to get a hold of this attorney, especially in times of desperate required information. This lack of timely responsiveness makes learning information about your case or the progress of which very difficult.
Given, he is a very intelligent man; capable of much.
However, I personally did not feel at ease or comfortable with this lawyer or how he handled my case and that is one of the most vital points. I highly advise those who seek a client-appropriate and secure attorney to think twice.

A nearly impossible circumstantial Dui situation, but Jim didn't hesitate to continue driving the case to dismissal thru investigation and presentation of our side of the story. It took a while and was a bit frustrating at times, but worth every bit of the wait as he gathered and presented facts instead of assumptions that lead to the ultimate dismissal. Thanks Jim for patching the canoe and tossing us some much needed paddles!

I'm being charged with a misdemeanor for petty theft. Within minutes of speaking to the online chat representative Mr. Dunn called and gave me a phone appointment for a few hours later. He then followed up (all of this between other cases/clients) and spent 20 minutes or so on the phone going over my case with me, and I now have an appointment scheduled only 2 days from today. He was very friendly, helpful, sincere, and knowledgable, and (most importantly in my opinion) he was respectful, and didn't make any assumptions about my character or about the case itself. I've never been in any legal trouble before, and had no idea how important that would be. Overall, I'm very impressed so far.

I had been kicking back with friends and drinking beer all afternoon. On my way home, I ended up getting into an accident. Nobody was hurt, but the driver of the other car called the cops. I was freaking out. My license was suspended at the time. My breath test was .21, and even Mr. Dunn told me my chances were slim to none. But at that point in my life, a conviction would have destroyed me. So I put my faith in Mr. Dunn and told him to take the case to trial. He was awesome. Not Guilty on all counts! He also won back my License.
