A little more than a year after having been on vacation in Europe I received a letter from the Police of Rome (Italy) demanding a hefty fine for allegedly violating a "limited traffic area". I did some research, realized that the Roman Police was obviously trying to use questionable tricks get around the fact that Italian law gives them only 360 days to fine aliens. I sent a registered letter (in Italian) to the responsible authority (Prefect of Rome) stating the facts and requesting a cancellation of the fine. I didn't receive an answer, but months later a registered letter demanding an even higher fine. And after I responded to that one, another demand for an even higher sum, this time from an Italian collection agency. I contacted this agency, and in response started to receive (for the first time ever) letters and calls to my private phone and job phones from an American collection agency authorized and by the Italian authorities. At that point I contacted Mahmoud who had been recommended to me. He was extremely helpful, did an excellent job juggling the American and Italian courts and debt collection systems and managed to get the matter dismissed. After having experienced the difficulties first hand I am extremely happy about Mahmoud's helpfulness and effectiveness.
