I had almost lost custody of my Son but Shamika was able to prove to the courts that I was an outstanding mother who had just been through a rough spot in my life. She was very professional and extremely caring. I would recommend her to anyone who is in a unique situation as mine.

Shumika is an amazing attorney. She is not out to do anyone dirty or lie about anything. She was very honest with me and I was with her. She had great communication with me during my whole divorce case. Even when my ex's attorney failed to even educate themselves on the case and attempted to play dirty pool, Shumika stood her ground on what was right and didn't stoop to their level. Shumika and I were a team on everything, working together like a well oiled machine. I recommend her to anyone in need of an attorney. Mrs. Sookdeo was an amazing lawyer through my whole divorce process. She is clear and direct, doesn't go in circles. knows what she is talking about and doing. my ex-husband is in state prison and she did everything to finalize my divorce in a timely matter.

I received a speeding ticket by a police officer who decided that passing a slow car all while traveling the same speed as other cars around you is considered bad. I am not saying I wasn't speeding, but what I am saying is everyone else was speeding too. Why he picked my little Nissan out of the crowd I do not know. I was going to just deal with it, but then I remembered that I have ARAG through my job which is legal insurance. I went to the website and chose a lawyer from a list of people. I picked Shumika Sookdeo because I recognized her from Yelp as a pop up advertisement. I checked the review (only one) And decided why not. Shumika is stern, blunt and to the point, but still manage to somehow come across as friendly and trusting. The only slight issue I had was that after she went to court for me, I wasn't contacted within a week. I did call, however and her secretary provided me with the information right away. I still have to pay the ticket, but charge was downgraded to coasting. This means no points on my DMV record. Yay. Thanks.

I had previously dealt with a different lawyer for my divorced and child custody but as child custody issues arise I sure knew I didn't want to keep previous lawyer. I looked around and Shumika was one of the lawyers I seeked advice with she was very helpful and am glad I decided to hire her. Don't hesitate to hired her she is one of the best lawyers when it comes to family law. I will continue to keep her as my future lawyer if any further issues arise

Shumika was excellent in handling my divorce. She made the process go as easily as possible (considering the nature of divorce). She helped guide me through not only the legal process, but also the emotional side of dealing and negotiating with my ex-wife. In the end, I know that it was her knowledge, experience, and tenacity that helped me get what I needed the most; primary custody of my child. She also helped to limit alimony payments and shortened the time-frame of those payments. I was able to keep ALL of my retirement too. Phenomenal is how I would describe miss sookdeo. She fights hard to help you win your case. She has this great way of getting to know you and your case in depth.
