This is my opinion and its based on my experience. I filed for divorce on my own, but then I came to The Law Office of Heather Cullen and Attorney Mrs. Murphy on a recommendation. I did not have a lot of money and told her I wanted to keep the fees to a minimum if possible and get this divorce done. My spouse is being difficult and demands more than her half. I only wanted fair, but this law firm could not get the deal done or even a trial date. Over several MSC's (Mandatory Settlement Conferences) and a few discoveries, I paid this Law Firm of Heather Cullen and Mrs. Murphy almost $18,000.00 over a period of a year all on my credit card. My divorce is still going. After my last MSC where I understood a trial date could be scheduled, Mrs. Murphy told me they had to schedule another MSC (The 4th). I wanted a trial date, but she couldn't get one. I felt Mrs. Murphy did not fight for me like I wanted. We wasted so much time and money with no results. I fired Mrs. Murphy and this law firm. Then I received an additional bill for over $500.00, which they did not provide an itemized bill. Their billing system is unorganized and unprofessional. Over the course of the year I was with them, I had to ask for an itemized bill more than once. So I am stuck with all this debt to pay off and still in the same spot I was when I filed for divorce on my own. I DO NOT recommend them. Their fees are ridiculous and over priced for what they did for me.

Although the representation was adequate, the case was heading to trial after years of failed attempts to settle with the ex. 2 years in and $40,000 in paid fees brought us right up to the trial date. 3 months prior to going to trial Heather's office insisted on $7,000 retainer fee to go to trial. At this point, we had borrowed money from family, friends, and taken out loans. I was forced into bankruptcy. I requested a payment plan but was instead "dropped" as a client. I had to go to trial "pro-per". The outcome is acceptable but would have been better to have my attorney who received $40,000 already provide a few more months of representation for me in the court room and with the end results of the exes lying, would have received the attorney fees that I was dropped for.. I had a need post trial to discuss a matter with an attorney so I called Heather's office. They insisted I pay a $400 fee just to meet. I have found other representation that has not charged to consult. I believe that this firm has talented attorneys that are more than capable of handling a case, but care mostly about the bottom line instead of the people involved in these long, drawn out, emotional family law matters. I understand they need to get paid, but in this case it was obvious that they made their money and when they were asked to extend a courtesy that would help get through the final and crucial stage of the divorce, the greed exceeded the compassion. It is sad but true, the only winners in any divorce case are the attorneys. Enjoy driving those Mercedes' while the people you represent make the payments for you...until they can't!!

My experience with my attorney was outstanding. My attorney, Jillian Duggan-Herd was extremely competent, plenty of background experience to help me know what I would and could expect, she was encouraging, compassionate, always available and made this painful process go as smoothly as possible. Family Law has got to be one of the most difficult fields of law and the people who work in it have to have not just a good legal background but huge doses of caring above and beyond the business level. This law office has it. Always met me with a smile and asked how I was and knew me individually not just as another client. I will always be indebted to Jillian and recommend her and this office to anyone who might need a family law attorney.
