Pros
1
Effective representation in court
“During trial he did a great job but DIDN'T follow up by submitting a judgment to the court for what I won.”
2
Reasonable and transparent pricing
“I was so please with his efficiency, attention and most of all, COST. He was very reasonable!”
3
Caring and supportive attitude
“Most Lawyers are more about the making the almighty dollar but Mr. Husen genuinely cared about me and my family and it showed throughout the entire process.”
Cons
1
Lack of follow-through and organization
“His office does not follow through with important things, he will suggest an expensive consultant to hire- for example, forensic accountants, cpa's, forensic computer experts, etc. Unnecessary when there's already plenty of evidence to work with. My files were also extremely unorganized when I got them- took me a month to get them in order.”
2
Ineffective negotiation and settlement
“When it came time to negotiate a settlement, Mr. Husen "negotiated" by telling me what was fair regarding a particular issue, then proposing that to opposing counsel, who would say, No we won't agree to that. And he would say OK.”
3
Biased and unethical behavior
“During my unusual child custody/paternity case he supported paternity fraud and perjury. He aproves of parental alienation and is against fathers rights.”

Horrible attorney, he ruined me financially, his billing statements are completely unjustified. He lost my case and even forgot my case details that my child was born in Newyork.

I have hired several attorneys in my life and I found my experience with Mr. Husen to be the best yet. He consulted me on my case and after a long discussion, he presented an approach to my case that never occurred to me. I felt at our first meeting, he spent a good amount of time in hearing my problem. Other attorneys just want to get you to sign up immediately or get you out of the office. I never felt that way with Mr. Husen. He presented my case to the Riverside Superior Court and to my surprise and elation, the Judge hearing my case ruled in my favor! I was so please with his efficiency, attention and most of all, COST. He was very reasonable! I am going to recommend him to everyone I know.

I first met Mr. Husen 15 years ago when I went through my first divorce after a 14 year marriage with three children. That divorce was final after 6 months and 2 weeks. I was very pleased with Mr. Husen so I hired him again to represent me after a short 7 year, second marriage without children, in October. I found Mr. Husen and his assistant to be very knowledgeable, professional, attentive and effective. We are both conscious about time and money so I write down any questions I have before I call and he answers them expertly. We set up phone conferences to save time and money on traveling. When I have gone to his office I was helped efficiently and quickly. All papers were copied and returned neatly. When Mr. Husen represented me at court, I had fantasies of what I thought would be accomplished that day. He gently explained what actually was GOING to happen and calmed my nerves. I resolved to sit quietly and talk as little as possible. In front of the judge Mr. Husen was composed and showed righteous anger without becoming rude, red faced or pissing off the judge. The Judge listened to Mr. Husen and I could tell he respected Mr. Husen's professionalism. My only concern was one time I called Mr. Husen regarding some papers I had delivered. He stated they were on the coach somewhere and that he would get to it that weekend. It had been several weeks since I had delivered the papers. But sure enough, Mr. Husen followed through and completed the task and filed all paperwork expected. Mr. Husen is a wonderful Christian, counselor, friend and attorney.

Tom Jacobson was hired to address several HR issues involving the termination and untimely retirement of employees. He was prepared, professional and extremely attentive to details. Tom kept the company officers in the loop and made excellent suggestions which made a very unpleasant situation work out smoothly. We've kept him on retainer.

Charles was a true professional handling my family law / removing support case. Even though he's said his strength was in criminal law he handled this for me and was a complete success in achieving my goals. He was priced right and I felt a true level of honesty and compassion for resolving my case. I would recommend Charles in a minute and in the event I am ever in need of attorney his number is at the top of my list.

Then BEST man to have on your side and I highly recommend Charles Kenyon. I gave him a call because I had tried talking to A LOT of law offices, I felt that no other offices were giving me any positive feedback nor were they returning my calls. Charles was the only one that would worked with me on traveling all the way to joshua tre, ca and gave me the faith I needed because he knows the law and he was so professional and I would not have anybody else besides Charles Kenyon. Hope anyone whose looking for justice to have your back, to go see Charles.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Riverside, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
