This guy is the reason for jokes about lawyers..He is the type you dont want to hire because he lacks any care for his clients..He is very arrogant and seems to justify his behavior in order to burn up your retainer..I spent 11 grand with Mr. Martinez's and all I got was a ton of filed paperwork which did nothing to advance my divorce settelement in fact he was aware of a settlement offer 2 months before acknowleging it existed allowing him to burn up the remainder of my retainer at which point he asked for another $5,000..After I informed him that I couldnt afford it he then told me I should take the settlement offer that he claims he knew nothing about... All I can say is DO NOT hire George Martinez for any type of legal representation, He is a disgrace to all the good attorneys out there...And FYI, when a client dismisses him he will keep filing paperwork with the court and sends you the bill and if you dont pay he will take you to small claims...Cmon George, waiting for your carefully worded and condescending rebuttal...

George and his entire staff was always available when I needed them. They kept me up to date on all issues concerning my case. They communicated promptly and always had my best interest and well being in mind. Their advice was always helpful and greatly appreciated. George and his staff were always helpful, compassionate, available, friendly, empathetic, and respectful of the situation that I was dealing with. It was the most difficult time in my life and they treated me like family, which was a great comfort to me! I would definitely recommend George and his entire office to my family and friends. If I ever need an attorney again, George will be my first call. Calvin

I'm going to get right to the point. He is all talk & that's it. You will be sorry if you hire him just like I am. The only thing you can count on him for, is a huge bill, that's it. Because I took his advice thinking that was why I hired him in the first place ended up costing me my entire future. My ex & his lawyer made us an offer & even put it in writing, I thought it was pretty good but Martinez insisted & had me convinced we could do better & recommended that we turn it down and so I did. I headed into the (MSC) with not a worry in the world believing in everything he had been telling me for over the last year & a half. Nothing could have prepared me for how he handled it, I was in shock & ah & freaking out in no time at all. He had my life in his hands at this point and I trusted him with it and his only words to me were "well, something is better than nothing" after they threw us a new offer taking it down from a total pay-off of a half million to now a total pay-off being $186k, & that's all he had to say to me, I was on my own at that point to make the right call. When I needed my lawyer the most is when I saw what he was really made of & that's why I'm writing this review. I want everybody to know ahead of time before it's to late like it is for me now that he's not made of anything good. He is so bad that it should be against the law for someone like Martinez to be a lawyer, letting the average person think it's safe to trust him with so much at risk. Well it is what it is now and it was a hard lesson learned and hopefully by telling all of you a piece of the story you won't make the same mistake. Oh, & where it stands now is with him wanting to sue me for the remainder of what I owe him and the least he will do is send it into collections and screw me one last time, isn't he sweet?

My situation would be much better off without hiring George. I was very disappointed because I was misinformed with the trial days and his legal directions. He was very deceptive with his charges. He was not up front with the legal costs and I ended up paid thousands of dollars without having the case resolved.

Mr. Martinez is thorough and upstanding. His office is a caring and professional environment. He and his staff were completely involved in my case. His staff was available and willing to listen when new things arose. They understood my needs and were able to give me valuable tools to work with even after my case was over. Mr. Martinez and his staff have continued to be a stable support system in child custody issues. I disagree with the statement that Mr. Martinez in not a fighter. The strongest muscle you have to fight with is your brain. Mr. Martinez is excellent at that. Other Attorneys may be loud and verbally aggressive but Mr. Martinez is effective and solid. I absolutely recommend this office.

Angela truly represents her clients. She is thorough, careful, and smart about how she proceeds with anything. She investigates first and then recommends action after gathering all the relevant information. We started using her at the recommendation of others in our industry (cosmetics and skin care) and couldn't be happier with our choice. We've had to deal with several extortion type of California suits and threatened actions, and we now feel that we have a true advocate on our side. The decision to use her was a significant step forward for our company

Dominick handled my DMV case for a DUI. He made valid points and was quick with discovery. He explained everything to me and kept me in the loop the entire process. His priority was getting me the outcome I wanted instead of being concerned about payment. In the end, I get to keep my license. No limitations!

Dominick Welch recently defended my friend’s case all the way to trial and beat the entire case. After a 3-day trial we received all NOT GUILTY VERDICTS on all 10 counts for a complete acquittal of all charges. Mr. Welch presented the facts in a professional, educated manner and worked tirelessly to prove her innocence. This was a huge victory because she was facing jail, major fines, and effect on her professional license. I can’t speak highly enough about Mr. Welch. There are so many attorneys out there who just see dollar signs, and milk clients for everything they have. He is not one of those. He has integrity, he’s honest, he’s hard-working, and knows the Judicial system. If you need a wonderful, experienced defense attorney, Mr. Welch is who you need!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Roseville, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
