I have been a realtor since 2005. Like many, I didn’t expect the market crash and had overextended myself financially. Up until the crash, bankruptcies were unheard of to me so I set my family and health aside to work countless hours as I attempted to avoid the inevitable. I was blessed to find a decent paying job during those times yet it still wasn’t enough. I eventually decided to consider bankruptcy because I realized that sacrificing my health and my family were not worth protecting my credit score and worldly possessions. I consulted with several bankruptcy attorneys. They each made me feel that my situation was complicated and impossible. I quickly found out that obtaining employment with decent pay was both a blessing and a curse at the same time. I was told by several attorneys that I made too much money to qualify yet I was struggling to simply keep food on the table. I left each of their offices feeling ashamed, overwhelmed and hopeless. I was exhausted from the sleepless nights and countless hours of work yet I saw no other options. I couldn’t even find a way to give up so I continued researching options and trying bankruptcy attorneys in hopes of a miracle. In my quest for resolution, the few attorneys that even indicated a glimmer of hope said that my situation wasn’t possible without skewing a few facts. I couldn’t do it; I wanted to find an honest way to resolve the financial burden. I finally found that in Christian Younger. He truly was my miracle that I had been praying for. He is a man of integrity and was able to finally put our difficult times behind us and give us a fresh start. -Hindsight, my situation was never impossible. It was just far too complicated for the other bankruptcy attorneys who were looking for easy cases and easy money. Nothing was as overwhelming and impossible as the other attorneys had made me feel once I found Christian Younger. He took the reins and quickly helped me resolve my financial problems. From the time that I met Christian, the bankruptcy process was quick and not the least bit complicated. The fact that he took the time to educate me on the process and involve me in every decision helped to restore my dignity and made me feel that I had control of my life for the first time in a long time. Essentially, he gave me my life back. My humbling experience inspired me to educate myself and specialize in foreclosure alternatives. I assist both realtors and homeowners who often are in need of a good bankruptcy attorney. Like myself, many have consulted with other attorneys only to be told that their situation was impossible. Many have also already initiated the bankruptcy process with other attorneys. Often times, I see that their attorneys have done little to educate them and involve them in the decisions that affect their lives so significantly. Sometimes their bankruptcies are even at a standstill or dismissed with them not having the slightest clue on what occurred, or what to do next. To be frank, I’m appalled by the number of clients I have encountered in which their bankruptcy attorneys have collected their money only to leave them stranded high and dry. I recommend Christian Younger every time. I have referred countless families in desperate situations to Christian over the years and have not had a single complaint. Nearly all of them have come back to me to thank me for connecting them with him, sharing similar experiences to what I’ve shared as my own. With Christian Younger, you are not just a number. He truly has heart for what he does and cares about his clients. He will do all within his power to help you. He takes the time to explain the process thoroughly, to educate you on your options so that together you can decide what is best for you and your family. Needless to say, I highly recommend Christian Younger. From both a personal and a professional standpoint, there is no better attorney out there in my opinion.

Christian is an awesome attorney and just an all around good guy. He knows the law inside and out. He's organized and concise. I was shopping attorney's at other firms prior to choosing Christian as my attorney. One in particular was a big name firm and the attorney who supposedly managed the bankruptcy team was going to take my case. This guy was a total joke, didn't know the simplest things about law that even I knew as a Criminal Justice major. He was very aloof much like a college student who eats top ramen and rolls out of bed to get to class late. After meeting with Christian, there was no comparison as far as understanding of the law and being organized. Christian was the clear choice.

Being new to California, Rudy was referred to me by a highly-respected Employment & Labor attorney from outside the Sacramento region. She said, "Rudy's your guy. "You have a believable story. Rudy will be sure you get a fair shot. Call him." I did. Rudy returned my initial call promptly. He took time to listen to my story, asking thoughtful and provoking questions along the way. Within 20 minutes I had a clear understanding of the unique California employment laws I was up against. Rudy clearly laid out next steps he felt were available to me. Rudy presented two straight-up fee options, a super easy to complete online engagement agreement and then encouraged me to think about things before signing! He said "If I thought he could be helpful and I wanted to proceed, to call him back to meet the aggressive document timelines established by my employer." I did. Within 48-hours of engaging Rudy's services, he took full control of my case, and established an elevated level for consideration to my employer, offering a real sense of hope for me and my family. Rudy then said to stay calm, be patient and wait. I did. Over a matter on weeks, Rudy communicated directly with my employers leadership, human resources and attorneys, keeping me informed every step of the way. Rudy reported, "the company is moving slowly, but definitely moving in the right direction for you. Keep the faith." I did. The bottom line; Working with Rudy was an inspiring experience for me. Rudy knows his stuff, kept me informed, was straightforward, honest and true to his word. Rudy negotiated a fair agreement with my past employer at levels greater than I could have achieved on my own. Rudy's sense of justice, (vs. the dollar) is real and so refreshing. Did Rudolf Delson's expertice, leadership, guidance, and dedication to my personal employment case make a difference for me and my family? YES, RUDY DID!

Sympathetic, friendly, analytical, and most importantly, effective. Highly effective. These are simply a few words I would use to describe Mr. Delson as my lawyer. I had spent more years than I care to remember, giving everything I had to an employer I imagined staying with for the rest of my career. Then, in an instant, it was all gone. I was destroyed. I needed to hold my employer accountable but had no legal resources to turn to. Then I found Mr. Delson via Avvo. Over the next few months, Mr. Delson reviewed my case in minute detail, collaborated with additional specialist counsel (the case was complex and extended way beyond pure-play employment issues), and devised the winning strategy. Going up against a large company with expensive lawyers is not for the faint-hearted. If you are in a situation like this and are unsure as to whether you should proceed with litigation - talk to Mr. Delson. Now I am on the other side of this case, I couldn't be happier with the result. Did I mention he is also a joy to work with? Absolutely delighted.

Knows the rules of the game, very insightful and with a work ethic beyond compare (she was at a July 4th celebration with her family working on my company's transaction via phone and laptop as it was international and where I was doing the deal didn't give a flying 's*&t' about America's Independence Day and wanted it done.) Very sharp, reliable and the best securities lawyer I've seen on the West Coast.

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Sacramento, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
