Hello, Andrew's family law has guided me through a DVRO, Child Custody and a Divorce proceeding. Mr. Andrews and his team have answered all my questions promptly and told me of the next steps I need to take. So, if you ever find yourself in any of these 3 situations listed above, please have confidence that Andrew's Family Law will help you through every step.

Called and the lady that answered was so rude! Specified that she wasn’t a lawyer but was very unpleasant on the phone. First impressions are important and this place failed to provide that.

Mr. Andrews was my (first) divorce attorney. Unfortunately, I was disabled at the time of my divorce, and Mr. Andrews never did as instructed, but I was too weak to change lawyers and my dad who was taking care of me didn't know what to do. My ex husband and I reached an agreement. I just needed a lawyer to give him the money. I noticed almost immediately that his office didn't work quite right -their secretary ran down the clock to the hour on one of the first calls, which stunned me, but I was too sick to care. Mr. Andrews also tended to drone on and not say anything useful. He also submitted things that made no sense to me or my dad. My dad tried, we tried so so hard to get him to send my ex husband money. We kept asking and asking. Then I got sicker, I told Mr. Andrews I was sicker, and while he didn't do anything much before then, he did absolutelynothing afterwards (he had one job, to pay my ex husband per our agreement. He never did it.My next divorce atty a very reputable lawyer, said Mr. Andrews filed the paper work incompletely for the divorce actually.) Then my ex husband, angry and not knowing the situation, thought I was stalling (I couldn't speak to anyone at the time, I was bedridden and couldn;t think. I'm crying as I write this. All these men scamming women is terrible. To be clear I paid everything for my husband- I was the sole breadwinner for four years while he went to school, then he abandoned me when I got sick. And he said, you can just hand me a check. He wanted half, and I just said, that's ridiculous. You're leaving me when I can't work. So we made an agreement). For about a year, Mr. Andrews did NOTHING and charged me $5000 for it. And my husband got half - of everything, including what really should have been money from before I was married, gifts from my parents, and, most awful, brain injury settlement money- which my ex husband had originally agreed not to touch. I can't describe to you all how traumatizing that is in the position I was in, to be nearly dead and dysfunctional and in pain, and your ex husband taking as much as he can. After I had switched lawyers to clean up his mess, Mr Andrews had the gall to ask for more money beyond the deposit. I said know, and he yelled at me over email when I finally said, after losing my ENTIRE 401K, I was not going to give him any extra money for bogus charges. Interestingly, my next atty said Mr. Andrews didn't do his job -at all. She was stunned that he hadn't just sent a check first THING. Remember, i was sick, and i also didn't /don't know how divorces work. Mr. andrews claimed he couldn't give any money immediately until 6 months had passed. I don't think this was true!! He will cover his incompetence with anger that someone says he didn't something ...not right. My next attorney had a good think on it and she knew, even though Mr. Andrews really "screwed me", there is nothing I can do because he didn't technically do mal practice. So, one star for this law firm for "technically not doing mal practice" but also doing absolutely nothing. I lost half my savings while I was sole breadwinner and this law firm is not apologetic, even when a reputable atty is shocked at the incompetence and their disregard.

Being new to California, Rudy was referred to me by a highly-respected Employment & Labor attorney from outside the Sacramento region. She said, "Rudy's your guy. "You have a believable story. Rudy will be sure you get a fair shot. Call him." I did. Rudy returned my initial call promptly. He took time to listen to my story, asking thoughtful and provoking questions along the way. Within 20 minutes I had a clear understanding of the unique California employment laws I was up against. Rudy clearly laid out next steps he felt were available to me. Rudy presented two straight-up fee options, a super easy to complete online engagement agreement and then encouraged me to think about things before signing! He said "If I thought he could be helpful and I wanted to proceed, to call him back to meet the aggressive document timelines established by my employer." I did. Within 48-hours of engaging Rudy's services, he took full control of my case, and established an elevated level for consideration to my employer, offering a real sense of hope for me and my family. Rudy then said to stay calm, be patient and wait. I did. Over a matter on weeks, Rudy communicated directly with my employers leadership, human resources and attorneys, keeping me informed every step of the way. Rudy reported, "the company is moving slowly, but definitely moving in the right direction for you. Keep the faith." I did. The bottom line; Working with Rudy was an inspiring experience for me. Rudy knows his stuff, kept me informed, was straightforward, honest and true to his word. Rudy negotiated a fair agreement with my past employer at levels greater than I could have achieved on my own. Rudy's sense of justice, (vs. the dollar) is real and so refreshing. Did Rudolf Delson's expertice, leadership, guidance, and dedication to my personal employment case make a difference for me and my family? YES, RUDY DID!

Sympathetic, friendly, analytical, and most importantly, effective. Highly effective. These are simply a few words I would use to describe Mr. Delson as my lawyer. I had spent more years than I care to remember, giving everything I had to an employer I imagined staying with for the rest of my career. Then, in an instant, it was all gone. I was destroyed. I needed to hold my employer accountable but had no legal resources to turn to. Then I found Mr. Delson via Avvo. Over the next few months, Mr. Delson reviewed my case in minute detail, collaborated with additional specialist counsel (the case was complex and extended way beyond pure-play employment issues), and devised the winning strategy. Going up against a large company with expensive lawyers is not for the faint-hearted. If you are in a situation like this and are unsure as to whether you should proceed with litigation - talk to Mr. Delson. Now I am on the other side of this case, I couldn't be happier with the result. Did I mention he is also a joy to work with? Absolutely delighted.

Never did I expect I'd need a lawyer for my small business. Those types of problems happened to "other people". However, that day came and I really felt like I had no recourse. As a last resort, I talked to Rudy about my options and he knew I had a case. I was nervous, as this whole process was new to me, but he was so knowledgeable about the whole situation, guided me through my options and was able to parse through a complicated situation and break it down succinctly. I felt heard and taken care of, and thus, trusted Rudy's decisions from day one on the best approach—and we ended the process better than I ever expected. Thank you!!

Knows the rules of the game, very insightful and with a work ethic beyond compare (she was at a July 4th celebration with her family working on my company's transaction via phone and laptop as it was international and where I was doing the deal didn't give a flying 's*&t' about America's Independence Day and wanted it done.) Very sharp, reliable and the best securities lawyer I've seen on the West Coast.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Sacramento, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
