Could not recommend Dianne and her team more. I retained her to help me navigate a complex case that involved domestic violence, a restraining order, child custody, and a subsequent divorce. I could not be happier with the outcome, given the circumstances. What I appreciated most about Dianne is her tireless work ethic. She's active in her community of legal specialization and has a clear mastery of the law. Combined with her decades of experience in family courts, it's no surprise things turned out as well as they did.

Dianne Fetzer and her team are one of the hardest working law firms in the Sacramento area. I cannot recommend them enough if you are in need. They listen, they truly care, and are so supportive throughout the entire process. Dianne will fight for you like no other! And their recommendations are always made with the best interest of their client and what is right. I don’t think I could have made it through all the legal garbage if it wasn’t for them. They give you a peace of mind and enable you to sleep at night by knowing they have everything handled. They are worth every penny! Highly recommend if you are in need!

Dianne and her team provided outstanding support during the 4 years in which I was a client of Dianne's. Dianne is extremely tentative with her clients, Dianne or Leslie always made themselves available and especially when they could sense I was feeling low, Dianne is tuned to her clients emotions and reassured me that we would resolve this matter it may take time but we will finalize whatever we were attempting to address. Dianne deep level of knowledge in divorce and the various elements of law enabled her to get right to the point and force difficult situation on to the table. Her detailed documentation was especially useful when attending court and strategically she new how to set up the case to ensure that it was fare even when at times I felt frustrated by the result. My case for child custody was extremely difficult Dianne had to deal with a very manipulative person who would play her attorney and the children against me as the father but she worked tirelessly to make sure that the result of the case was fare. Dianne used various support agencies to address this manipulative person and finally joint custody was awarded by the court. Throughout the custody battle I believed in Dianne but just as important Dianne believed in me. Her staff were also very supportitive especially Leslie she made me feel good and provided additional support when I would visit the office or on the phone if I would call the office. Dianne would review her fees and make the necessary adjustments so that her charges remain fare. Finally I would recommend Dianne and her team to anybody going through divorce especially a high conflict case. Dianne thank you for all your support I was extremely satisfied with the professional manner and the support you provided - Thank you

Ms Fetzer's handling of my divorce was brilliant. She is savvy about the law and has resources that expand beyond her own firm that she can draw from when that will be a benefit to her clients case. I can't speak highly enough of the importance early on of getting an advocate to help navigate the unpleasant process of divorce. Dianne Fetzer will be in your court to protect her client's interest and do her best to keep you from going to court. She is excellent at strategy and sees both parties sides, in terms of fairness and how the law applies to your situation. She is not afraid to go head on with injustice and is uber smart and compassionate, which is often difficult to find both qualities in an attorney. Ms. Fetzer has impeccable work ethic and is well respected by her colleagues, which is a big asset for the client. Dianne is highly experienced about anything to do with Family Law. I do not have young children, but I have witnessed her fierce advocacy on the part of children's best interests being protected and holding the parents to that standard. Dianne will not tolerate bullying and will be your voice when you need it most. In my case, it took coming from a strong legal position to avert a contested (and expensive) outcome for both myself and my ex. In addition, her staff provided clear communication, helpful guidance and were sensitive to the emotional roller coaster one rides during these times. Note: Her firm is small so what you get is personal representation by the same person all the way through the process, reducing the stress of having to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Being new to California, Rudy was referred to me by a highly-respected Employment & Labor attorney from outside the Sacramento region. She said, "Rudy's your guy. "You have a believable story. Rudy will be sure you get a fair shot. Call him." I did. Rudy returned my initial call promptly. He took time to listen to my story, asking thoughtful and provoking questions along the way. Within 20 minutes I had a clear understanding of the unique California employment laws I was up against. Rudy clearly laid out next steps he felt were available to me. Rudy presented two straight-up fee options, a super easy to complete online engagement agreement and then encouraged me to think about things before signing! He said "If I thought he could be helpful and I wanted to proceed, to call him back to meet the aggressive document timelines established by my employer." I did. Within 48-hours of engaging Rudy's services, he took full control of my case, and established an elevated level for consideration to my employer, offering a real sense of hope for me and my family. Rudy then said to stay calm, be patient and wait. I did. Over a matter on weeks, Rudy communicated directly with my employers leadership, human resources and attorneys, keeping me informed every step of the way. Rudy reported, "the company is moving slowly, but definitely moving in the right direction for you. Keep the faith." I did. The bottom line; Working with Rudy was an inspiring experience for me. Rudy knows his stuff, kept me informed, was straightforward, honest and true to his word. Rudy negotiated a fair agreement with my past employer at levels greater than I could have achieved on my own. Rudy's sense of justice, (vs. the dollar) is real and so refreshing. Did Rudolf Delson's expertice, leadership, guidance, and dedication to my personal employment case make a difference for me and my family? YES, RUDY DID!

Sympathetic, friendly, analytical, and most importantly, effective. Highly effective. These are simply a few words I would use to describe Mr. Delson as my lawyer. I had spent more years than I care to remember, giving everything I had to an employer I imagined staying with for the rest of my career. Then, in an instant, it was all gone. I was destroyed. I needed to hold my employer accountable but had no legal resources to turn to. Then I found Mr. Delson via Avvo. Over the next few months, Mr. Delson reviewed my case in minute detail, collaborated with additional specialist counsel (the case was complex and extended way beyond pure-play employment issues), and devised the winning strategy. Going up against a large company with expensive lawyers is not for the faint-hearted. If you are in a situation like this and are unsure as to whether you should proceed with litigation - talk to Mr. Delson. Now I am on the other side of this case, I couldn't be happier with the result. Did I mention he is also a joy to work with? Absolutely delighted.

Never did I expect I'd need a lawyer for my small business. Those types of problems happened to "other people". However, that day came and I really felt like I had no recourse. As a last resort, I talked to Rudy about my options and he knew I had a case. I was nervous, as this whole process was new to me, but he was so knowledgeable about the whole situation, guided me through my options and was able to parse through a complicated situation and break it down succinctly. I felt heard and taken care of, and thus, trusted Rudy's decisions from day one on the best approach—and we ended the process better than I ever expected. Thank you!!

Knows the rules of the game, very insightful and with a work ethic beyond compare (she was at a July 4th celebration with her family working on my company's transaction via phone and laptop as it was international and where I was doing the deal didn't give a flying 's*&t' about America's Independence Day and wanted it done.) Very sharp, reliable and the best securities lawyer I've seen on the West Coast.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Sacramento, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
