I was pulled over for going 109 on the way back from a 14 hour wedding photoshoot in San Francisco on the way back home to Orange County. This was my first ticket EVER, and I was stressing out. I didn't know if I should fight the ticket alone, fill out trial by written declaration or hire an attorney. The citation I got; 22348(B), if convicted, carries a 2 point on your DMV record and stays on your record for 7 years. There is no possibility of traffic school and a mandatory court appearance is required. This would not only cause your insurance to sky rocket but also the ticket itself is at least $2000+ AND you can have your license suspended. So you can imagine the amount of stress and anxiety I was going through. This was my first ticket ever! After spending countless hours on the internet, scouring ever possible avenue. I stumbled upon Chris Cain. I decided to give them a call. From our initial conversation up until the end. Everything was handled professionally. Chris laid out the game plan and while nothing is guaranteed. He will give it his all. The best case scenario was to get the ticket dismissed. If that didn't work, the next game plan was to reduce the violation to a minor offense etc. Feeling somewhat relieved that Chris had my back. I retained him as my attorney. He and his team (huge thanks to Beatrice!) kept me updated along the way. They shared my discovery documents, the CHP officer's radar certification and everything. Chris and his team did not leave a rock unturned to try to find a way to beat the case for me. In all honestly, I did not have too much hope for my case (based on what I read online from those who got cited for 22348(b). While I knew Chris was going to try everything he can to win this. In the back of my mind, I didn't believe it was possible (I mean, how can I get out of this major offense). Well, I am happy to report that Chris worked his magic and got the case dismissed!!! I am BEYOND happy and so ecstatic that he was able to pull this off! Never in a million years, did I think that this was possible. Again, all the horror stories of those that were written up for 22348(b) lead me to believe that this fight cannot be won. Let me tell you, that with Chris on your side. It is possible! I can't thank Chris and his team enough. They are the best in the business and I can't thank them enough! Lesson learned and I will definitely drive safer on the road!

I would like to begin by saying, what a wonderful experience I had with Mr.Mousa. He is an excellent attorney and a very compassionate kind man.. He kept in touch with me on a regular basis and kept me informed about my son's case.. no matter how big or small the circumstances were. He believed in my son's innocence. He fought for my son and saved him from spending the rest of his life in prison. Mr.Mousa's hard word and dedication payed off. I would recommend Mr.Mousa to anyone out there who is seeking an honest hard working and dedicated attorney.

Murlie helped me with a complicated case involving family inheritance after my mother died. The legal documents were misinterpreted by certain members of my family, leading to an emotional dispute and ultimate settling of my mother's estate. Although Murlie was not the attorney on record, she assisted all of us with interpretation of the estate documents and procedures. She never sugar-coated the outcome, and presented both sides before we took action. Murlie impressed me with her responsiveness to my case, answering questions and explaining situations promptly. She is very sharp, confident, and compassionate. I knew I could count on her, and would recommend her in a heartbeat!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Salinas, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
