Evan George got a dv case completely dropped. The D.A. had already sent out subpoenas and was threatening 3years probation, 30 days incarceration or community service, parenting classes as well as anger management and fines. Almost willing to take the deal when Evan George arrived and was not present for more than 10minutes, the next thing I hear is the D.A. has no case!! When you need help out of a scary and difficult situation turn to Evan George. He made sure to explain everything and was thorough. He eased my fears and went above and beyond for my family. He returned my calls and emails. I wouldn't have been so fortunate if I didn't have Evan on my side, let's just say I'd hate to be on the opposing side of Evan George! I didn't see any reviews for Evan so I was a little leary but now that we've overcome I'm happy to be the first to review for others to get an idea as to how awesome Evan is.

I was arrested last year for a DUI with horrible, extenuating circumstances, BAC of .25. The first lawyer I hired, did not listen to anything I had to say and just wanted me to settle, admitting guilt with a plea bargain. I knew that there was more to my case, more that could be done and that's when I contacted Mr. Crawford. During our initial phone consultation, he listened to everything I had to say and offered his knowledge of the situation and showed his compassion for myself as an individual. Navigating the legal system can be daunting, especially when facing serious charges, but Mr. Crawford made the process much more manageable. He was empathetic, kind and very open in all his communications. He walked me through all the steps letting me know what to expect. I had the DMV hearing and we won that due to lack of evidence, so my license stayed intact the entire time, never suspended. He was thorough in the next steps of the case with reviewing circumstances, evidence, investigating and interviewing witnesses. My DUI case went to trial and was ultimately dismissed on the 3rd day, due to insufficient evidence. I owe the outcome of my case to Mr. Crawford's dedication and expertise of DUI law. I wholeheartedly recommend him and his law firm to represent you if you or a family member finds yourself in this situation.

When I say this is the best lawyer out there I mean it. Everyone else said I don’t have a chance and take the DUI which was unjust because of my medical conditions. Crawford did an amazing job and got it reduced and could have even got the charge dismissed but a reduction was good enough for me. No matter what you are dealing with you always have the best chance with Philip Crawford.

I had the good fortune of being a client of Mr. Pernik, hands-down the best and most competent defense attorney practicing in the Monterey Peninsula-Salinas area, and beyond. After an unexpected turn of events, I needed help with a legal case and appreciated the fact that Mr. Pernik was willing to represent me. As I worked with Mr. Pernik, Dustin, and other members of his team to resolve the issue, it became readily apparent that they worked well together, and in my best interest. In the end, the case was settled fairly, and I attribute that success to Mr. Pernik and his team's professionalism, integrity, and compassion. I highly recommend Mr. Pernik, whether you're dealing with a straightforward case, or one that's more complex in nature. The legal representation that he provides will be first-rate, bar none.

I've been a client of Law Offices of William Pernik for a few years now. I've been seeking legal counsel on many situations, some of which had to do with selling possibly prohibited goods nationwide, some related to cannabis, and others with best course of action to be taken to avoid legal trouble. His law firm gave me excellent advice every time. While I hope it will never come to this, I rest easy knowing I have access to a knowledgeable attorney in case I get into serious legal trouble.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Salinas, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
