I extend my highest commendation for Julian Hubbard to anyone traversing the steep challenges and pain of shattering experiences in marriage and divorce. Julian is more than an exceptional attorney; he is a steadfast ally, a champion for the silenced, and a guiding light in the darkest moments of a person’s divorce journey. I still remember when I was confronted with a barrage of claims and false accusations. After over a year of grappling with the tumultuous divorce, I came to realize the harshness of the court system due to the lack of understanding and advocacy from my previous counsel. Upon searching for new representation, my mentor highly encouraged me to contact Julian Hubbard. She said, “Julian is the attorney you want by your side.” And, she was so right!!!!! Since meeting Julian, he has stood by me and guided me not only toward healing and clarity. His profound insight into the labyrinthine nature of the law and and severe stress of divorce, coupled with his unwavering commitment to ensure my narrative was not only heard but also respected, was nothing short of transformative. Julian’s guidance was delivered with a rare blend of compassion and expertise, providing a lifeline that steered me through the legal maelstrom with dignity and strength. If you find yourself in a similar situation like mine or searching for an exceptional attorney, look no further and contact Julian Hubbard! Trust me, by hiring Julian you will stop wasting your time, and money, and get the representation you and your family deserve.

Julian kept me focused when I thought all was lost. He kept me in the fight when I reached exhaustion. In the end, he led my family to a win. Julian is a leader. He is experienced, focused, prepared, thoughtful, poised and clear thinking. He is able to articulate problems and solutions in a sophisticated, yet understandable manner. His understanding of human nature is impressive. Julian cares about his clients emotional state as well, understanding the stresses involved in family legal matters. He knows how to get you reengaged and remember what you are fighting for.

I can't say enough good things about Julian Hubbard. I'd been through 2 other attorneys in my child custody case, and both of them fell short in a number of areas. Julian's background in litigation was extremely helpful in family court, as he does not fear confrontation. He brings a very calm, sensible, moral, and effective approach to an extremely anxiety inducing situation that I found to be most comforting. He is straight with you, no BS, and he's straight with opposing council. He brought a deadlocked situation to a relatively swift and decisive end, that was ultimately fair for all involved, especially to our child. Two things I found to be most beneficial in Julian's style. One is his humanistic approach. His studying of character (yours, the judge's, the other party and their council), body language, psyche, etc. He really wants to understand what makes them tick, in order to provide the most effective path forward. Second is his genuine desire to bring things to a positive conclusion. My other 2 attorneys were indifferent, which racked up the bills, wasted years worth of time, and generated a great deal of unnecessary anxiety. Julian did a terrific job for us, and I'm extremely grateful to him for setting things right.

Josh Bentley has been my personal attorney for years now and I can’t express how professional and kind this man is. If he takes your case consider yourself very fortunate because the man is total pro and his presence in the court room speaks for itself. He never once stereotyped me or made me feel a certain way, never. I will always have total respect for this man and he earned every bit of it. Thanks Josh!!! your amazing… Cory

Kellen had/has fantastic communication with us through this process. Having two young children it was/is difficult to stay on top of the process, but she kept us on track by following up in a timely manner to ensure we completed the necessary steps in this very important matter. She was very patient even after we delayed in replying promptly. She made us feel comfortable discussing serious topics and reassured us that although the task of estate planning seemed daunting her help along the way would facilitate the process. She is professional in every way.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Carlos, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
